What happaned to it? I mean, I looked on www.play.com and it has vol 1&2, 3&4 then 11! Also the movie, I've got that though. I'm really confused, is there a boxset out yet? :? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
 
I'd like to know that too actually as ive only seen up to a certain point in the anime and i always enjoyed it.I even bought the movie the other day actually.Made me miss it more :p
 
I'm guessing the UK only got the 1st 4 vols of Cardcaptors since Geneon cancelled the R1 release of it to make the japanese only with subs DVD release of original uncut version, Cardcaptor Sakura (that one marked vol 11 on play.com is 1 of the 18 vols that I bought from UP1). There's 2 Cardcaptor Sakura R1 boxsets but the 1st is out of print and the 2nd probably will be soon along with the single vols.
 
Cardcaptor is now out of print as Geneon has lost the licencing.

Trust me it's a pain in the ass :( i only need the 1st movie and i can't get it anywhwere
 
I just asked my brother (DaNiMe).
He said that it's on CITV, a kids programme, they took out all the violence and romanc. Now it's pretty hard to understand. The original one was great, it roughly had 70 episodes the 'new' one only has 40, with so much cut out, which makes it hard to understand. So basically now that things are improving hopefully *fingers crossed* it'll be coming out in the UK.

as i said before at the moment there is no chance as the licence has run out and the show is out of print, so untill someone picks it up, don't hold your breath

Interesting because i always thought they were one and the same, is this the show that has the little yellow dude with wings? His dub vice was cool. I remember watching some of the cut stuff on CITV and it was pretty, well, crap.

well seeing they narrowed it down from 70 episode to 40 how much do you think ^^

and no way Kero's dub voice is better than his japanese one :D

Yep. Errm, it gets really confusing in the movie. Kero is the little yellow... bear? With wings. Also starring Madison, as Sakuras best friend, she goes along to all of the captures with a tape recorder

the dub has Tomoyo renamed to Madison?

no wonder the cardcaptor fans dispise the dub lol

It is not so much as heavily cut as completely rewritten. The original was supposed to be about Sakura but the rewrite tried to give Shao Ran Lee a more leading role. Most of Tomoyo's (Madison, according to what others said; I forget all of the English names) infatuationwith Sakura was edited out, as was Shao Ran's infatuation with Yukito (they couldn't completely destroy all traces since I noticed that even in the dub but it was certainly attempted). In short it was one of the most awful dubs, for its treatment of the original story, ever. Despite that it did manage to get a lot of people interested in anime, which goes to show that getting anime on TV does breed fans in the long run.

So true. I know that's exactly how it worked for me! with Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardcaptors. Maybe even a bit of Dragon Ball-Z
 
I watched Cardcaptors in nickelodeon in the Uk (I cant remember if they ever finished it).

I did think the English cut was quite weird (even without see the original Japanese version).

What really struck me was that Madison was obviously in love with / or fancied Sakura but the English cut tried to make out the looks she was given her was just because she liked the clothes, nothing else. It really didn’t work!

ps) I got the movie when it came out.

My brother got the movie, it's not that good, it's the most confusing thing ever! lol. I really, really want to see the real, Japanese uncut version. Sadly they probably won't get round to bringing it to the UK anytime soon. In fact it's quite old now? So chances are, it'll never come! :(
