One of the biggest titles for the upcoming Winter 2018 season is heading to both services for simulcast.

Today, both Crunchyroll and Funimation have announced plans to simulcast the new series Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card when it begins airing this January as part of the Winter 2018 season. The show will be streaming in Japanese with English subtitles on Crunchyroll while the English dub will be on Funimation (as part of their partnership requirements).

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card is the sequel series to the original Cardcaptor Sakura, which had an anime that aired back in 1998 based on the manga written by CLAMP (Chobits, Original Character Designer for Code Geass) in 1996. The Clear Card manga began serialisation in 2016. The manga for both series have been licensed for English distribution; with Dark Horse releasing the first series and Kodansha Comics releasing the second.

Much like the original anime series, the new Clear Card adaptation will also be animated by studio Madhouse (Death Note, OVERLORD). Many members who worked on the original anime series also return including; Morio Asaka (Chihayafuru, My Love Story!!) as director, Nanase Ohkawa (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, xxxHOLiC) as script writer, and Takayuki Negishi (Cardfight!! Vanguard, Strawberry 100%) as the music composer. Also joining the staff are Kunihiko Hamada (Chihayafuru, My Love Story!!) as character designer, Tomoyuki Shimizu (Chihayafuru, Monster) as art director, and also theme songs performed by both Saori Hayami (Anohana, Oreimo) and Maaya Sakamoto (Cardcaptor Sakura, Macross F).

Voice actors Sakura Tange (Fate/Extra Last Encore, The World God Only Knows), Aya Hisakawa (Azumanga Daioh, Sailor Moon), Junko Iwao (Perfect Blue, To Heart), and Motoko Kumai (Beyblade, Major) all reprise their roles as Sakura Kinomoto, Keroberos, Tomoyo Daidouji, and Shaoran Li respectively.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card will be broadcasting in Japan commencing 7th January 2018. Regions and simulcast details for Crunchyroll and Funimation will follow soon.
