Death Scythe
The highly regarded Japanese animation studio <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BONES_(studio)">"Bones",</a> responsible for such acclaimed productions as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fullmetal_alchemist">"Fullmetal Alchemist"</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf%27s_Rain">"Wolf's Rain"</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka_seven">"Eureka Seven";</a> have finally announced by way of the opening of an <a href="http://www.souleater.tv/">official website</a> that they will produce the animated version of the "cool & pop action fantasy" manga <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Eater_%28manga%29">"Soul Eater".</a>  An anonymous <a href="http://anime3.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/ymag/1194536252/46">post</a> on the Japanese message board <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2channel">"2Chan"</a> also adds that the series will be directed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouran_host_club">"Ouran High Host Club"</a> director <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takuya_Igarashi">Takuya Igarashi</a>, although this is unconfirmed officially.

The <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/manga.php?id=4713">"Soul Eater"</a> manga, unpublished in the English speaking world, revolves around the 'Shinigami Weaponry Vocational School', where a human is paired with a demon.  They work together to collect 99 human souls and a single soul of a witch in order to transform the demon into a fully fledged shinigami (god of death).

It has been a while since <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=198">"Bones"</a> have announced a new production since their most recent series <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darker_than_black">"Darker Than Black"</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_Man">"The Skull Man"</a> aired on Japanese television in April, and their latest movie <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2340">"Stranger Mukoh Hadan"</a> was released in September in Japan after being announced back in 2003, so no doubt this information will make a lot of Bones' fans happy.

I've been checking various websites for yonks now to see if Bones had finally announced a new anime... it's been like a year since they last announced anything. Now my dream will come true. Now another season of Fullmetal Alchemist, please, Bones!

Not possible.

I haven't read the manga, how much manga material did the entire TV series use? Was there any left? I heard that the anime adapted diverged from the manga quite a lot towards the end, or something, so maybe they could do an alternate ending : p.

Well yeah, they -could- do that, though I thought you meant a carry on from the original series and movie as that is like... impossible.

I haven't gotten around to seeing the movie yet, but that sounds suitably ominous - is it all going to end in tears...? Don't tell me any more!! :)
