Following on from James Cameron's confirmed work on his Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) project, ICv2 are reporting that an English language live action adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire is on it's way from schlock horror ("Freddy vs. Jason") director Ronny Yu.

as long as its shot all dingely its ok with me, and that they dont introduce a group of sidekicks or something lame.

I hope it will have more of a storyline this time...don't get me wrong, it looked great but there wasn't enough of it!

I haven't seen Freddy Vs Jason but if the producer can lend his skills in the same way as with his previous films it should be very good indeed. Crouching Tiger... and Hero are two of my favourite films - the stunning camerawork and combat choreography would look fantastic if applied to a live action Blood....

Notably it's only the producer of Crouching Tiger.., so I'm not getting too caried away with that reference. It could be good, but then it could also be one of those Aeon Flux style Hollywood efforts where the female lead just doesn't suit the gritty combat.

Fingers crossed it turns out okay.

Oh. My. God.

If the live-action Blood movie will be anything like Freddy vs. Jason (which I really, truly hope it won't) it'll make the animated version look like an epic to anyone who didn't like it before. Even by cheesy horror film standards, that film was terrible. XÃ

Well even if the movie turned out to be crap it'd still be better than the anime movie, what a waste of time that was.

The anime had the sexy animation and visuals to keep me interested while being a nice slice of action and being pretty short so it didn't get boring. CGI visuals in live action movies don't tend to grab me much anymore, no matter how well they are presented and since the main thing going for Blood was the visuals i'm not expecting much.

Blood the last vampire looked good, but the story was crap tbh, and it's only like 45 minutes long lol. I hope the live action version will be good, and hopefully has more plot to it than the anime version.

It's actually being directed by HK martial arts movie veteran, Ronny Yu (The Bride With White Hair, Patrol of Horses and of course, Freddy Vs Jason). James Wan has only directed two films to date, those being Stygian and Saw.

Admittedly, Freddy vs Jason was a bit of a crock, but I wouldn't count Mr. Yu out just yet, the guy has a strong visual style and is no slouch in the action department so I wouldn't put it past him to deliver a half decent adaptation. Besides, the original anime was hardly anything to write home about, and as such this is one anime I don't really mind Hollywood having a crack at - to be fair they'd have a hard job making it any worse than it already is...

Whoops, not sure how I confused the two- seems I plucked a random name there, but cheers, fixed the post :)
