i'm pretty sure series 1 of bleach ends episode 20

atleast it did in america and on anime central

It looks like Manga are releasing it saga by saga.

The first saga ended at episode 20, so what they're doing is correct.

I would expect a much slower schedule from now on though, as only a few more DVDs have been released in America, not even enough for a "Season 2: Part 1" release from Manga.

Viz do so many things wrong.

Yeah; Neo definitely messed up on this one.

I think Manga are classing each series as approximately 20 episodes, which is exactly what the japanese relase did.

After every fifth volume, the series is rebooted, with new cover aesthetics and a new subtitle and reverted back to a volume 1. example:

Bleach: Substitute Shinigami Volumes 1-5
Bleach: soul society sneak entry 1-5

I see Manga mirroring this with 2;1 and 2:2 containing another 20 episodes. However, the third arc last 23 episodes, so we may get 3:1 with 12 eps and 3:2 with 11 eps. this also occurs again later in the bount arcs.

edit:

I would expect a much slower schedule from now on though, as only a few more DVDs have been released in America, not even enough for a "Season 2: Part 1" release from Manga.

4 more volumes have been release on r1, so there are 16 episodes ready to be released, but alas, as you said, we are currently waiting on the americans who are releasing them 4 episodes on a bimonthly basis, so unless they up the release rate like they did with naruto, we may only get three parts a year(roughly 30 or so episodes)

Neo have made an apology in their latest issue about the three disc error. At any rate, the manga releases are not just slowed down by the american DVD releases but by the fact that america has only up to ep 70 dubbed

I could be just me but I dont see many peolple complaining about what happens with the bount arcs. Those DVDs are not going to sell as well as the rest of the series so it'll be interesting to see if they try any cost saving tactics like dubtitles.

Neo are renound for their mistakes, makes them look less professional every time i hear or read their magazine....

I know this is off topic, but can anyone comment about the subtitle and video quality of the Mangle 1:1 and 1:2 Bleach releases?

I'm waiting for the 1:1 + 1:2 box set before buying Bleach after the Naruto subtitle disaster. However, I'm going to ignore the UK releases of Bleach if the subtitle quality is similar to Naruto - Awful subtitles, filled with mistakes and localization idiocy, plus some releases only offering dubtitles.

They are identical to the Viz releases so far as I have been able to tell. I can't be bothered to do a direct comparison but they are definitely very similar to one-another.

Thanks. :)

I have to wonder why Mangle didn't do the same with Naruto if they have copied the subtitles that are on the R1 releases of Bleach. It kinda reminds me of the days when Studio Pierrot paid more attention to the art/animation of Bleach, Naruto seemingly getting the scraps for its budget.

The reason they didn't do that with Naruto is that they tried to master their discs while Viz were still mastering theirs (to cut the lag between US and UK release) and hence had no access to the Viz translation. For the first series this resulted in a translation localised to the UK and in the second instance they were told from the higher-ups to use the dub for the subtitles (to save money presumable), hence the dubtitling fiasco.

I can't believe they decided to use 'Pot Noodle' though. It's not like we haven't heard on plain old Noodles in the UK.

Well its definatly looking like that policy has been switched around. Now Naruto is beautiful while doing nothing and bleach looks like bad filler despite doing a better job of delivering its story.

Ironically I didnt realise how bad things had gotten until I rewatched Bleach 1:1. Every single aspect of the presentation and style is so far ahead of what the current season is doing. Either they dont care anymore or they realise that people will still watch it no matter how bad it looks.

Switch over to Naruto and we get to watch beautifully animated and designed characters stare at each other for 20 minutes.

I dropped Bleach before the Hueco Mundo fillers due to the story dropping in quality, the art/animation quality dropping to Shitpuddin level and...well, the upcoming fillers. I dropped Shippuuden after 17 simply because the pacing bored me to death, the filler stuff added to the episodes was retarded and it looked like ****.

Back in the pre-Bleach/Naru filler days, I loved both shows. Bleach was at its peak during the SS arc and the art/animation was quite superb for an endless shouen, beating its higher rated rival. Those were the days - The Sasuke rescue arc in Naruto and the SS arc in Bleach... :D

It's too bad Mangle had to **** with the Naruto subtitles, ruining the series for people in the UK who 99% of the time watch anime in Japanese; the language most would've watched Naruto in originally. I suppose I'll be a little happier with them if they haven't ****** up the Bleach subs too much...

I agree with you on all counts but Im still watching for some reason. I havnt picked up the manga so I want to see where everything is heading. Im too invested in the story and the characters.
Besides I need something to watch while I wait for Macross Frontier.

The Mangle subtitles are the same as the american release though. Sure there's even a Viz logo on the box.

Each Bleach season has 25/26 episodes, each time a new opening starts there's a new season, so...

Just because an op changes at episode something or other doesnt mean it is teh same as a season; bleach seasons last around 20 or so episodes.
