Same as Black Wolf...

SMT is excellent imo and a very worthy series... probably the most original out of them all. SMT have many different type of themes in many games... Whethers it's the post apocalyptic world of Lucifer's call or the very philophiscal but meaningful life of Digital Devil Saga.

Shadow hearts is another favourite... It's just so wierd, it's fun and awesome.

I do like the FF series... From like IV - X. After that I became disapointed, but heh. I think SMT is the most superior RPG so far, and I think a lot of RPG fans will agree.

Dark Chronicle is my favourite PS2 game. I know it's not a common choice, but everything in that game worked so well. I have many fond memories of playing that game when I was 14.

xenosaga & Final fantasy x-2 are the ones I've played the most.
I've played KH I and II a lot as well, but I can't see me playing them again anytime soon.

Shin megami tensei is great, but for some reason I was never able to finish it :(

Oh I almost forgot, I miss Chrono Cross and Chrono trigger. I still believe there are no better console rpgs.
I also like the zelda series, but I haven't had a chance to see them all.

I gotta go for one of the Final Fantasy series if we are talking about the PS2 its either got to be X or XII but for story X has to win

Does the sage megadrive collection count with phantasy star 2-4 :p
But i have dark cloud, xeonsaga 2 and then any final fantasy as much as i tried to like rpgs it was only ever final fantasy i could complete.

In terms of hours invested, for me it's FF XI with an enormous lead over everything else put together, even though I stopped playing a while ago :D

The PS2 had loads of quality RPGs though, far more than I had time to play. I dropped the Megaten series on PS1 - might pick it up on PS3 though. I enjoyed the older games but I never finished Persona 2 and my interest waned.

Also really enjoyed Kingdom Hearts (1 and 2), despite it being fairly simple it was great fun and strangely much higher quality than it rightfully should ever have been.

Couldn't stand Xenosaga but liked FFX, X-2 and XII. Though I never finished Yazmat as it was too repetitive (invested one session then decided I'd rather do something that felt less like work). Disgaea was another series I skipped, though I'm going to try out Disgaea 3 when the time comes.

I think the lack of time due to work and my personal life made me switch a lot of my RPGing to handhelds a few years ago. That and I play lots of semi-RPGs, such as Tokimemo Girls Side and RPG elements of non-RPG games (Narutimate Accel's story mode, for example).

For all it's rough graphics I still love Grandia 2...

But that was a Dreamcast game!

*SEGA fanboy alarm rings*
And was later re-released on PS2. Does it have to be a PS2-exclusive title?

Hmm, that's what I would do. I would generally say a game belongs to the platform it was originally on, but it doesn't really matter. I just felt like being a pedant.

Hands down, it's Final Fantasy XII. That game is nigh-on perfect in my books, and I enjoyed every second of it. The visual design is absolutely amazing and the battle system is superbly enjoyable.

FFX and Disgaea are runners-up, but FFXII is miles ahead of them.

Lol, if Grandia 3 ever made it out over here I'm sure that'd be my choice instead!

I am a MASSIVE Grandia fan, but I heard that the third game was unremarkable. Still annoyed I didn't get the chance to play it, though.

Grandia III was terrible. It wasn't the worst in the series, though: That award goes to Grandia Xtreme.

Suikoden V is the best RPG on the PS2.
