When it came out way back in 1998 it was a huge breath of fresh air in the industry,even the most jaded of fans could not help but love it,i remember way back then Bebop and along with Escaflowne in the late 90,s totally blew my socks of and even to this day are two of my faves series ever and two of the best series of the 90,s.

i was thinking in your opinion

which anime series in each year from the beginning to the present day was the best off that year that everyone was all the rage over or you personal favourite of that year and to this day is an amazing series/movies

I haven't watched anything from 2011 yet, and 2012 ain't over 'til it's over. GitS: SAC really doesn't deserve to lose out, but the years it was produced (2002 and 2004) just happen to coincide with Haibane Renmei and Kurau Phantom Memory, my very favourite shows of the whole decade.

Looking at those lists with a view to another thread we have going at the moment (is anime getting worse), I can identify that '02-'04 was actually a really good time for my kind of anime. In the years since then the number of things being produced which appeal to me really did decline quite sharply, recovering temporarily in 2006 only to drop off again.

@ayase I agree all my mega-faves seem to be 2002-2006 (Haibane Renmei is just superb). Wonder if this is because no hazy rose tinted nostalgia has set in over the newer stuff yet though?

P.S. I love both reevo and ayase's lists immensely, I didn't think I would agree so much with anyone's lists.
