Beez reveal their UK plans for 2005!

Beez (Bandai Europe) have sent us their tentative UK release plans for much of 2005, confirming several anime series (and movies!) that many UK fans had been wondering about. These release plans are listed below.<ul><span class=menu><li>Midori Days from April 2005

<li>Mobile Suit Gundam the movies from May 2005

<li>Planetes from September 2005
<li>Wolf’s Rain from October 2005</span></ul>Along side their current Cowboy Bebop releases, I'm sure we can agree that 2005 just got a whole lot better for UK anime fans.

Edit: According to posts at the AnimeOnDVD forums, DVD art boxes are being planned for all of these releases except the Gundam movies. Crest of the Stars and Yukikaze are also being planned for a UK release by Beez, but not officially confirmed as yet.

The Gundam movies planned for release are:

Mobile Suit Gundam I, Mobile Suit Gundam II, Mobile Suit Gundam III, Mobile Suit 0083 The Afterglow of Zeon (not released in the US), Mobile Suit Gundam Char’s Counter Attack, Mobile Suit Gundam F-91.
 
as I've just said over @ animeondvd it is really good to see such a large company like bandai really getting involved in the UK market, and with quite a few new titles that hadnt been rumoured before
 
I gotta admit 2005 does seem to be the year for UK anime :D but I still have to complain at the choices. I know it's all to do with what the companies think will sell well in the UK but they also have to realise they are not catering enough for the UK anime market as a whole and this is why I find it difficult to purchase UK anime, as I'm not going to buy something just because it's region 2! I got too hopeful after the UK release of Fruits Basket and Pretear :cry:
 
Oh. My. GOD! And I thought Beez had given up on Gundam! We're even getting non-Alternate Universe stuff like the movies and (What would have to be my favourite, best piece of news this week) even the Last Blitz of Zeon/Afterglow of Zeon (too bad I hear its not great, basically a rehash of 0083)! F91! CCA! Hell, I wonder if the discs will be any different, I might even end up getting these releases as well. Wolf's Rain, S-cry-ed and Witch Hunter Robin are on my list as well.

Bandai, thou hast redeemed yourselves!

Certainly a lot of popular series coming out this year , While the majority of those series listed dont really peak my personal interest ( would have liked to have seen Scrapped Princess in there , if im correct in thinking its a Bandai release ) , They are certainly popular shows and will hopefully draw more fans into anime in the UK. I certainly am looking forward to Wolfs Rain now.

I would like to see more shoujo shows released over here, fingers crossed that at least a few will slip out this year , or I may end up spending money on more R1 then R2 releases.
 
Bandai release its titles under the Beez label.

And Scrapped Princess would have been nice, ah well.

But, sooo much Gundam......

I wouldn't rule out Scrapped Princess just yet, I mean, we are just getting Cowboy Bebop now ;) I'm pretty sure Beez will release it over here if they can, perhaps late '05, early '06? A long time away, I know...

I agree that more shoujo and 'magical girl' would have been nice for the fans, but I guess the disappointing sales of Sailor Moon scared away some of the UK companies. I remember reading that Tony (founder of MVM) threw a lot of his money into Sailor Moon expecting it to be massive and the sales completely flopped.
I don't think anyone would blame you shoujo fans for importing, especially since right now, there is simply no alternative.

I can't wait for Beez to release PlanetES and Wolf's Rain; they are both high quality anime series- great stories, great philosophy and great soundtracks. From what I've read of it, S-CRY-ed seems interesting too. My head is going to explode with all this great anime being released in 2005; must focus on just the month ahead!
 
This is great news beez have really out done themselfs this time. Beez aad MVM are makeing 2005 a year to remember for UK anime. I just hope they dont put they stuff back to much but as long as i know it is coming out sometime in the future im happy.
 
Not bad. Witch Hunter Robin, especially, is an excellent series. Wolf's Rain is good too, along with Gundam SEED, which, in my opinion, is the greatest Gundam series so far.
 
Holy crap this is awesome news, the only bad thing about this is thats even more money to spend this year :(, has, also that PlanetES is out quickly isnt it it only finished recently on the fansub circuit didnt it?
 
sailor moon is dead here

the last retail to stock them (big one anyway) Was Toys'r'us and we've sent back all our stock now

ah well i'll finnally be able to watch gundam seed

If they'd put more thought into it, it might not have been so bad but only having the choice of the hacked to pieces dubbed version it's no surprising it flopped!
To truly appreciate Sailor Moon, it needs to be watched in all it's uncut subtitled glory :twisted: It's a damned good series (yes totally biased :wink: ) but honestly the Americans totally ruined Sailor Moon when they dubbed and cut it and to be honest I already had every format available, video (dubbed, subbed and raw!!), DVD, fansub etc, so I couldn't see the point in buying it all over again, they waited far too long to release it over here :cry:

Now a series that should really have some kind of official release in US or UK is Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (ahh! Magical Girl heaven :lol: ).

Totally agree, Sailor Moon is best viewed totally uncut , I certainly had no desire to see the americanised release MVM licensed. Also in my opinion the best series of Sailor Moon is "Sailor Stars" , the 5th series which has never been licensed.
