BECK

Watched 4 episodes. Easily one of the most irritating shows i've seen this year. Congrats Mr Sakuishi, I would love to slap you for creating this. That is all.

I guess I just didn't like a few of the characters(and the voice actors to go with) but mainly it was the overall feel(and sometimes look) of the show that kinda turned me away from it and started to bother me. Maybe it gets better later on... but I can't be bothered finding out. It's def one of the few series I've checked out this year that I had a strong bad feeling towards from the first episode.

It's a wonderful series, though it's a grower. It's great to see the band (Beck) rise from nothing.

I've read the manga, haven't seen the anime yet, but I love it. But then again, there's probably much more appeal about it when you're in a band yourself.

Well, I've just been told that our vocalist screwed it up and the one in possesion of the recording is unwilling to post it.

So that sucks.

Beck is a fantastic show. It follows the age old tradition of shonen stories, the usual battle to be the best at <insert>, with the backdrop in this instance of a rock band. It is true that Koyuki is such a wet character and kind of hard to like because of it, especially at the beginning of the show but over time his confidence grows as he becomes more and more involved in the band and the rock scene in general. I'd say worth enduring a few episodes until the band forms at the very least. :)

Just couldn't get my head around this series, I tried but something about it grated on me and I never made it past the first episode. I might re-try it one day but at the moment its still not something I am into

The BECK manga is insanely popular in Japan, and I love it. I've read from start to current release, and was addicted to the show whilst it was out... even if the end was rushed and didn't expand into the later parts o the Manga.

Anyone looking for a Manga that builds up a hell of a story with time, you wouldn't be doing wrong to go with this one.

Yeah, I remember when we did an AUKN top 5 manga thing, and the Beck manga did really quite well, only being beaten by Fruits Basket (about 5 times over, but still...).

To be fair, there are lots of reasons that someone could be put off watching Beck; the character designs, the engrish, the slow-moving story, not liking the music...
Even so, I consider it fairly highly just because it tells such a good coming of age story - not as good as FLCL does, perhaps, but I can't think of any others that do this better.
