Ban on imitation Samurai swords

Imitation Samurai swords are to be banned after a spate of attacks in the UK, say ministers.

The Home Office has confirmed plans to outlaw the weapons in England and Wales after putting forward the idea earlier this year.

Home Office minister Vernon Coaker said there was a clear danger to the public posed by easily-available swords.

Under the proposals, the government will ban the import, sale and hire of Samurai swords from April 2008.

so anyone who already owns them is fine then :D

like hell they'd get mine either way

xD

When they come to take it away do Zoro's onigiri move from one piece on them xD

Well I am NOT giving my swords up, I'll have to order the ones i want soon so they come in before any sort of ban as I want Ichigo's bankai version of his sword

Haha. I have a 5ft 6-8' version of his Tensa-Zangetsu (Bankai), and i'd recommend it, if you're into Bleach/Katana.

I thought these imitations were suppose to break easy if handled wrong. I know there's functional ones as well... They could be the seriously dangerous ones, but I have a Kit Rae 2 handed sword, purely for display.

Wouldn't it look wierd to actually use one or to be seen with one in our society? These "samurai" are complete morons, and the government are jumping at the case to make them look like "Safety officers." Pfft!

They're banning Katana? Might as well ban Kitching knifes too!

My thoughts exactly, where will it stop? Most stabbings i've heard on the news or read in the papers were done with kitchen knives or small hand ones or in some cases swiss army knives (someone will one of them went around and slashed bags at my old secondary school). This is stupid and while the people who started this whole campaign to get them banned might of had their hearts in the right place, they obviously didn't think it through enough.

yeah pretty much, least i won't have to kick them in the balls and run that way

Hmmm... a quick one handed baton, which would crack a shin, or a heavy 2 handed sword which may take a while to swing....?
Aw, crap.... I may as well give up. :D Cant outrun them with a bulky sword like mine!

I'll just have to fend them off with my twirling broom stick technique, lol.

Surely doesn't imitation imply not the real thing? I mean, they aren't solid metal are they?
I think by "imitation", they mean replicas...as in "not genuine historial artificacts".

Could be wrong though...
