Space Craft Entertainment have confirmed that voice actress and J-Pop singer Aya Hirano, best known in the west for providing the Japanese voice of characters such as Haruhi Suzumiya in the franchise of the same name, Konata Izumi of Lucky Star and recently, Lucy in Fairy Tail, will be leaving the agency as of 20th August.

Although there has been no confirmation on why she is leaving, there is speculation that it could be due to the November 2010 reveal that she has had a non-malignant (not cancerous) pituitary gland tumour since junior high school, which was the reason why she was prohibited from taking on new voice roles.

It is not yet known what Aya Hirano's plans are after leaving the agency.

Well, she has been an icon in the modern Japanese V.A. industry. Definitely one of my favs of all times, and I hope she comes back into it.
If it is for medical reasons, I hope she'd get well a.s.a.p for her sakes. If it's about business, then I wish her luck in the future, whether it's musical/acting, or something completely different.

In either case, I will pass on my thanks to her for her work later on.

I thought it was in part due to the sex scandal thing with a member of her band? But then I read that on Sankaku Complex so I dunno how reliable such info is.

Yeah, I did read something about that too, but couldn't find anything concrete.

But I was in a nice mood when I wrote the article =3
