After munching on one too many sticks of strawberry-flavored Pocky, our very own Martin Butler found himself at last weekend's London Sci-Fi anime all-nighter. Having sat through a varied and exciting bill of anime include Paprika, GitS SAC: Solid State Society, Full Metal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala and even Highlander: Search for Vengeance, one might expect Martin to have completely lost his mind, but instead, he has reported on his findings. Sounds like a blast, I'd love to see Paprika on the big screen and especially, hear the soundtrack on a theatrical sound system.

Also, its a shame "Highlander" was ended up being a laughing stock. I suppose I'm not too surprised given the blatantly badly done Scottish accents in the dub. But since I'm a fan of Kawajiri's work, I'll be checking this out and hoping it's a good kind of cheese.

Paprika's worth the effor if you get the opportunity to see it in the cinema. Great film.

I really liked Highlander - will definitely be buying it on DVD. The story was pretty cliched and some of the acting was a bit off, but a lot of the action was really nice.

I noticed the 'Northern England' bit as well which was about 2000 years ago, but in a later flashback there was one in 'Scotland' which is set way after then and was where the original film picked up... maybe it was deliberate?
