Any London clubs

Cyburn

Student Council President
I have 3 months of holiday b4 I go to uni in September and I was wondering are there any Anime clubs or meets in london?

There is the London Anime Club who meet monthly at the Hogs Head in America Square. Depending upon how outgoing you are, you may want to take a friend down with you since many of the members already know one-another to some degree and it may be a little daunting to get to know anybody.

I've only ever been a couple of times myself and that was to meet some friends in London but it's not a bad meet with dealers and anime showing.

I live in London and I've always wanted to meet other Anime fans. I'm talking about true fans, not those teenagers who have only seen Dragon Ball Z and ask you a stupid question like "Have you seen Akira?!" when you saw it practically years ago. I'm not a very social person and I'm very quiet when I first meet a group of people, so I've always been afraid of turning up to such events myself as much as I have wanted to. I mean, if I went to such an event what would I say? "Hi, let's watch some freakin' Anime"? Would I have to sit around a group of adults in a pub while they laugh and drink beer, and I sit in the corner drinking a glass of water wondering where all the youngsters are? :D

well the people at LAC seem like nice people and im planning on heading to ther next meeting myself ^^

Well, one thing about the LAC is that, since it is in a pub there are no unaccompanied under-18s (or maybe under 16s, I'm not 100% on their policy). If you are under 18 then you need to get an adult to act as your guardian and ensure your safety, etc. You'll find that most clubs operate a similar policy since all kinds of hell can break loose if a minor gets injured, causes or gets involved in trouble. If in doubt get e-mail the organisers of the club and they will be able to set you straight on their policies and regulations.

LAC seems like a cool place, been going last couple of years when ever I get the free time and work does not get in the way. Althrough still have not worked up the courage to say hi to anyone yet (getting a bit sad after 2 years). With a little luck I'll be there next meet - who knows.

You're the second person to say that you've gone there but not said Hello to anyone. Why are ya'll going if you refuse to meet like-minded Anime fans and talk to them? :)

Well its not like I refuse, its more to do with the fact I`m not a very out going person and I find it diffucult to interact with other people face to face outside my job. (which is odd as I`m a supervisor in a jewellers where lots of interacting with joe public is required.)

In short I`m shy, if my girlfriend didn`t tag along I doubt I would have the guts to go to the LAC by myself.

Ah, I'm exactly the same. Other than at work (I work at an off-licence) where I have to interact with my customers since I work at the till, but generally speaking I prefer to keep my "friendship circle" very tight, and I don't make friends easily since there aren't many people in this world I can really call a "decent person" when it comes to real life. If only I could meet as many nice people in reality as I do online, that could help. :D

Glad I`m not the only one like that. Hoping to go to the LAC on 2nd july (work permitting) and this time hoping to actually talk to someone other than the dealers and bar staff. But I know me and it most likely will not happen.

They have a room where anime is being shown; a dealers' room where various anime dealers sell stuff (Otaku UK and UP1 are usually there I think alongside a couple of others). Besides that it is a bunch of people inside a pub who share an interest in anime.
