The free channels make money mainly through TV advertising (except for a few like "propeller TV" as that's a non-profit thing). The more people watching, then the more the advertiser pays. As mentioned elsewhere, some money can also be made with TXT things, competitions, merchandise, etc.However, when I first tuned in, I noticed there was no adverts on the channel. (They would need to seek a deal with a TV advertising specialist like Dolphin TV first, who handle the adverts for POP). So that would need to change if they are to continue.IMO this is somewhat of a rush job from Chart Show to launch an anime channel before the competition.
