I just noticed anime dvd not proper subtitle. When i borrowed trigun dvd from Ilovefilm. I put play dvd on ps3. Trigun not have subtitle. I thought all anime dvd should have subtitle. Other issues with subtitle, When i bought FMA Brotherhood ( i not sure which is part) Some subtitles are top and bottom at same time. Top subtitle is song and bottom is people's talk. it caused to me confused which is follow read to subtitle. Some subtitle word is missed end of subtitle because it is wide subtitle. Also sometime when they talk too much fast and subtitle is mess and confused. Other problem FMA Brotherhood Blue Ray part 1 and 2 did released but not release part 3,4,5 blue ray. Why ? Because company did sell few fma brotherhood part 1 and 2 blue ray so they decide finish it. I am annoy it because i want all fma brotherhood blue ray.

As you said, the reason Manga Entertainment didn't release Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood volumes 3-5 on Blu-Ray is because the initial sales of volume 1 were only around the 150 area; which wasn't near enough to break even. By then, I assume that they had already had volume 2 copied etc. The only way to watch the entire series on blu-ray at the moment is to buy a Region A or multiregional blu-ray player and import the blu-rays from America.
As for the comment with songs. Yeah, it does sometimes irk me when one set of subtitles is at one side of the screen while another is on the other side. Luckily, with Fullmetal Alchemist, all the insert songs are opening/ending themes, so if you really need to know the lyrics, you can memorise them from when the songs are played during the opening and ending animations.
If you can, I'd recommend trying the discs on a different player.
