Animax UK any more news?

J_C_X

Great Teacher
Seems to have gone all cold on this news, I think it will launch in the UK but not as a channel. I think it will be a V.O.D service here's hoping it's a channel but personally I can't see it happening though at most I reckon it could be on IPTV.

Nope sorry J_C_X.

I recently bought this up on another thread.

Probably will happen eventually, but first; they need to dominate other parts of the EU.

However I think some digital TV stations will start picking up anime soon. I've got a funny feeling BBC 3 may pick up some anime to fill up it's night time slot, or Sci-Fi all it takes is someone to take a chance on it.

Once the Wachowski's brothers Speed Racer hits it will lead up to more interest in anime just like the Animatrix mini boom.

I know Sci-Fi have shown some anime in the past but I honisty can't see BBC 3 showing anime. If they did I wonder what they would show.... :? Although I hope we get animax. If we do I know I'll never leave my house agian :p

I'm only saying BBC3 might flirt with the idea of anime. I mean Japanorama has been successful for the station, so it's not out the realms of pluasibility they might pick some up even if it is a movie.

Here's for Sony's AXN network I believe show anime as well. This is seperate from the licences to broadcast in central Europe. So I wonder if this is for the UK?

These above are for central Europe.

I also found this....

I don't know if this is seperate from the Sony owned ones.

But Beez seem interested in Showing anime on the Popular Channels. But I doubt BBC will ever let them show it, Anime still have a Bad rep.

Yeah I know the BBC barely ever show anything that isn't British or American :( . But I hope Beez do find some channel that people watch that agrees to show anime. Compared to America, Canada and even Australia, Barely anything gets shown. Not even massively popular series like Inuyasha.

I think it's got the audience to sustain an anime channel but it has to be on a format which has maximum reach.

Channel4 are the best bet for terrestrial anime that isn't aimed at kids. They've aired Akira in the past, and had lots of Ghbli films on a while ago too. FilmFour are quite good for Ghibli films too (they showed a few of them in Japanese, with English subtitles) so we might see something on that channel. I know MTV2 air anime in the US too (currently they are showing the awesome Heat Guy J) so that's a possibility too!

I know for a fact MTV UK are looking at anime they just don't want to pay for it.

As I said all it takes is one channel to take a chance it proves successful and they all jump on the bandwagon.

Not totally true, Anime Network anyone?

I was talking about a major digital channel. Propellor does'nt exactly have a huge reach it's actually pretty limited.

Yeah, J_C_X is right... But I'm pretty sure if Anime Network get good ratings, it will prolly move to a better channel. Sky or MTV anyone ? I know ADV can afford it

With the poll on animenetwork.co.uk looks like they will go it alone.

Would you watch Anime Network if it was available...

68.0% 24 hours/7 days a week
0.0% as Video on Demand
0.0% on Mobile Phones
0.0% on-line
32.0% all of the above!!
Total votes: 25

I would, but dude its 25 votes. I rather if AN go to a better channel and get good ratings before they consider something as big as this.

I'm sure ADV would look to launch an anime channel in the UK prices on Sky EPG are nowhere near as high as there were in the analogue days. An anime channel will happen in the UK it's just a matter of time.

Sorry to drag this one up but here's a thought. If Sony is hurting for dubs, why don't they just get the rights to the Singapore-English dubs of a few shows.
I'm sure as hell that They could air the likes of CCS and the Digimon Quadalugy (and even Savers with the American-English, if it suited them) with little issue (Like hell does Jetix care for the digimon dub anyway). Hell, get the drop on one piece and licence that too.

I'm sure Odex would love to get some more money with it, I meen if they need to sue thier fellow man, they must be hurting pritty damn badly. I'm sure our Brittish moneys would be news to them.
