I've literally just started watching Boogiepop Phantom. I see that the acronym "MPLS" appears in the opening credits. A quick Google tells me they're a type of character in the show. I've not read any more, because I don't want spoilers.
Anyway, this made me laugh, because MPLS is also one of a small number of technologies that essentially powers most of the internet providers in the world. Multiprotocol Label Switching - Wikipedia Very few people have heard of it outside of the networking industry - and yet, whenever you do anything on the internet, there's an almost 100% chance that MPLS will be used at some point to transport the data.
I use MPLS extensively in my day job. Of all the potential half a million options for four-letter acronyms that they COULD have chosen, they had to choose the ONE acronym that reminds me of work on a day off.
I'm not even safe when watching anime!!
