Our own Martin Butler was at this past weekend's <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/news/1668/anime-screenings-in-london-at-the-bfi-barbican"><em>Anime Now</em></a> event (held at the BFI South Bank cinema in London) to take in (amongst several anime movies) the much anticipated question and answer session with the world famous anime director <em>Makoto Shinkai</em> (Voices of a Distant Star, 5 Centimeters Per Second). As a result, Martin has just <a href="http://nakama-britannica.animeuknews.net/2008/06/23/5cm-per-second-and-makoto-shinkai-in-conversation-bfi-southbank/">published</a> (<a href="http://nakama-britannica.animeuknews.net/2008/06/23/5cm-per-second-and-makoto-shinkai-in-conversation-bfi-southbank/">on our blog, Nakama Britannica</a>) an enlightening and detailed report of the evening's discussion with Shinkai.

Been there as well. It was brilliant.
I look japanese and have a japanese name. I do speak a bit of japanese and then, Makoto sensei tried to speak to me... The fanboy here could not do anything , but say hai hai, domo arigato, hai hai domo arigato xD

He seemed to be a very accessible and humble person. To me it just adds to his myth xD
And 5cm per second is posibly the most beautyful anime I've ever seen. Could take away the place of Rurouni Kenshin trust and betrayal in my heart...
