Amazon.com does it again...

i've been on amazon.com looking at movie 8 is going to be released in the US, and i came across this -

How can Amazon be this this stupid to list another bootleg anime boxset. (the last one being sailor stars (sailor moon season 5)).
and all you have to do is look at one of the pictures and you can tell it's been ripped off a tv, you can see the channel logo in to the top corner.

this is actually quite funny, looking at how many pictures actually prove it's not an official US release.
amazon never cease to amaze me.
 
It is not being sold by Amazon but rather by a seller on the Amazon Marketplace. The Marketplace operates very much like Buy-it-now does on E-bay and allows sellers to sell whatever crap they want, including imports and bootlegs that are not available from Amazon itself. I am sure they try and vet everything that appears on the Marketplace but the occasional knock-off appears regardless. Either that or they adopt a similar approach to E-bay and take a reactive stance, waiting for complaints for duff products before pulling them.
 
I see bootlegs listed on Amazon a lot, they're clearly not an official release. And as has been said before, they're never actually sold from Amazon.

I can't remember if I've seen this in the news before or not, but I don't remember seeing them until just now...
 
Just read the product description, it gives it away the fact that its a fake even more-so than the pictures do. The day we'll get One Piece on DVD will be great though. Also, Movie 8; Thats the Alabasta one right? That apparently sucks really bad. I'm waiting till I watch it. I still have the 6th Movie to watch, and everyone says thats epic.

I'm going to wait a year or so to buy the eighth One Piece movie, as Funimation seem to like doing special editions a very long time after the normal edition is out. See: Origin: Spirits of the Past ...

yeah i've read that too.
but i was looking for it for my friends birthday which is coming up soon, and that's something hes asked for.


but either way, the way i look at things about the amazon/bootleg thing, it makes them look bad for allowing people to sell bootlegs on their website, be it directly through them or not, it still looks bad.
i know it's a lot to maintain, but it shows they might not actually maintain the marketplace as well as it could be done.

i've got a feeling there will be regional restrictions on purchsing these, or some kind of region detection/blocking device meaning on US residents can watch them.
you might have to access an online license key to watch it or something.
(similar to the deathnote downloads that were put on sale a while back)
 
Your best bet to get the movie is Here. February eh? Not bad, Not bad. I might have to purchase for myself. Even if it apparently sucks. I'll make my own judgement. Its a awesome arc and anything with Vivi can't be that bad. Also, Zolo'll be called Zoro in the dub, because its not the broadcast dub. Woo~
 
I noticed the Trinity Blood was distributed by FX Media so if memory serves me right technically it probably is not a knock off as they get the Chinese license for quite a few shows. However where they are dodgy is that they don’t always have the rights to all the stuff they put on the DVD like English subs and dub if available. I can’t remember the names at the moment but I think there are another couple of Chinese companies that are the same.

I think the worst incident like this I saw was on Play Trade when some guy was blatantly talking about burning copies of the complete set of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

On another note. It seems that One Piece solicitations have stopped, since the release of the 11th volume in October... No websites list the 12th volume (except Up1, which doesn't seem to be a proper listing), so I wonder if the edited release is over. We can only hope that something finally got sorted out with Funimation.
 
I can't remember what FUNimation exactly said at AX, But I was watching the first FUNi video at Anime Boston yesterday saying they were trying to get it all released from the beginning uncut. I doubt they were successful. As I type this now it seems more stupid than what it did in my head. =S
