Air Gear

Vampire Ninja
Ok just finished watching this series yesterday, first thing i have to say is that its not what i expected. It actually had a deep kind of meaning to it, although at first i really didnt expect it to :p
Also the animation was good, could have been better, but was good.

Now... only read on if you have watched the series because i will be spoiling things (yes i will be using the greying out spoiler thing but some people still ready even when that is there because they want to know what im on about).

To start off... ill go to the end... what was up with that ending? It was so abrupt and random, it would have been good if that was a middle plate for another series but i cant find any news about a second series. So it kind of ruined the whole thing... unless they make a second season of course.
Aparently the series wasnt that much of a big hit so they arent sure whether its worth making another season, also they are still publishing the manga so they dont have a storyline.

Now, onto the overall story. When i first read about this i was like 'oh another wierd sports thing where its all about the sport...' but it wasnt, which was good. The story of him becoming the sky kind was awesome, although as i said earlier i would like to see that happen...

I feel that im starting to rattle on about the same things now... but overall, i liked it, was different which was probably why i enjoyed watching it.

Just thought id come on here and have a little rant about it and also so i can see what other peoples views are about it overall. Please give your opinion, but i dont want to see any arguments!

One of my all time favourite animes, I have watched this all the way through at least 9 times and I am still not bored with it. I can watch Ikki fighting over and over, being seduced by Simca to Ringos obvious annoyance and lose his first kiss to a guy.

Characters - The characters are weird and wacky and the series sets up each of the "Roads" they follow well incase no one got them Ikki the Wing Road - Kazu Speed Road (later nicknamed Stealth) - Onigiri the SMell Road watch the cube battle and you get what his road is all about. Then you have his other team mates Fat Bucca who is seen as the Tank of the team and the vicous and unpredicable Akito/Agito who at times provide some great comic relief even though he is more at home with shredding opponents with his Fang Regalia.

Romances - And then there is the budding romances we all want to happen and we all kinda need to happen but as its anime that will be saved for the future. Big Spoiler ahead YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Ringo and Ikki is the love we all want to see blossom but it can't happen as she is a Sleeping Forest skater and in the end the one who has to face Ikki in the Tropheum as she has abilities no other skater has, so can't get too close as one day she knows it'll be her job to crush his wings and stop him attaining the place as Sky King

Last episode - I cried at the end of the last episode and I still do, with all the pressure on Ikki and his friends stepping up to help him out it just got to me bigtime.

Second SeriesIt was confirmed mid last year there will be NO second series but the manga does carry on with the story and there is A LOT of story to get through inface there are still a lot of characters not yet introduced in the anime that have appeared in the manga.

Manga - I also love how the manga goes in a different direction at the start but still keeps the same story as the anime and I warn people it does go a bit dark later on but is well worth reading. I am only on the UK release vol. 4 but from what I have heard from japanese readers it gets very good and very dark.

Its a HUGE tradgedy there isn't a second series planned as the first one ends with such a great cliff hanger Ikki becomes ruler of the largest Air Trek team in order to train with them and then in his own words crush them with his own team Kogarasumaru whats even worse is that this series has achieved nothing but positive reviews in both the East and West and yet it has been discontinued. Still as I said before we still have the manga to keep us warm at night.

I read something very recently (like today or yesterday) that most of Oh!Great's anime shows don't do the artistry and the story justice to the manga, I've only seen a couple of episodes of Tenjou Tenge and from what I saw it was pretty decent, Air Gear does seem pretty decent and McIcy's eternal praise has made me look it up several times.

I want to get a hold of the manga of Air Gear, but the prices are usually quite high for it for some reason. Its annoying, I would get the anime if It got a UK release, Its not something I would probably import. >__<

I was thinking about watching Tenjou Tenge next as it looks kind of similiar.

The look is similar but I warn you it is no where near as good as Air gear and more into the idea of Etcchi Fighting than anything else

Oh sounds naff then... Do you know a good comedy action series?

I recently started the Airgear Manga and thought it was freakin' ace, I'm only part 4 though, I'm really looking forward to more when I get the money together. I've been thinking about the Anime too, but was worried it wouldn't quite be the same, I think I might take a look now.

Luckily I noticed a lot of places in London are selling the Manga off cheap!!
Woohoo o^ - ^o

Worlds Strongest Deciple Kenichi is brilliant, about a kid who is bullied and ends up being trained by some of the greatest fighting champions inc. an assassin, a kickboxer, karate 10th dan, a jujitsu master and a chinese ken-po expert in an effort to stop local gangs beating up his friends. 50 eps long and I didn't get bored once infact I found it hard to stop watching, one of the best animes of last year in my opinion and I really hope they bring out a second series.
