Following news that <em>Afro Samurai</em> (5 episode violent action anime from 2007) <a href="http://www.animenation.net/blog/2008/08/05/funimation-talks-finances/">generated</a> upwards of $13 million for US anime distributors <em>Funimation</em>, a follow-up movie called <em>Afro Samurai: Resurrection</em> <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-07-24/lucy-liu-mark-hamill-join-afro-samurai-resurrection">is in the works</a> and will premiere in the US during January of 2009, this time starring the voices of<em> Lucy Liu</em> (Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever) and <em>Mark Hamill</em> (Corvette Summer, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101988/">Mutronics</a>) in addition to <em>Samuel L. Jackson</em> (Snakes on a Plane).
Also, plans for a live action movie adaptation of<em> Afro Samurai</em> <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-07/samuel-jackson-on-afro-samurai-live-action-film-plan">appear to be progressing</a>, with <em>Samuel L. Jackson </em>suggesting that <em>André Benjamin</em> (of hip-hop band <em>OutKast</em>) would be perfect for the titular role of Afro.
