Afro Samurai's profit, sequel, live action movie on the way

Following news that <em>Afro Samurai</em> (5 episode violent action anime from 2007) <a href="http://www.animenation.net/blog/2008/08/05/funimation-talks-finances/">generated</a> upwards of $13 million for US anime distributors <em>Funimation</em>, a follow-up movie called <em>Afro Samurai: Resurrection</em> <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-07-24/lucy-liu-mark-hamill-join-afro-samurai-resurrection">is in the works</a> and will premiere in the US during January of 2009, this time starring the voices of<em> Lucy Liu</em> (Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever) and <em>Mark Hamill</em> (Corvette Summer, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101988/">Mutronics</a>) in addition to <em>Samuel L. Jackson</em> (Snakes on a Plane).

Also, plans for a live action movie adaptation of<em> Afro Samurai</em> <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-07/samuel-jackson-on-afro-samurai-live-action-film-plan">appear to be progressing</a>, with <em>Samuel L. Jackson </em>suggesting that <em>Andr&eacute; Benjamin</em> (of hip-hop band <em>OutKast</em>) would be perfect for the titular role of Afro.

Of all the things for Mr Jackson to get credited for, he gets Snakes on a Plane. I love that film, but it surely there must've been something else to credit him for.

Anyways, I still need to watch Afro Samurai at some point, but I have no doubt its great.
 
I thought I'd have some fun with the actor credits. I could have gone with the obvious choices since all three actors have done big things, but that's too easy. Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever sounds like a cracking film! ;)

*shivers* you just brought up some bad memories from that film :p that's easily the worst thing he'll ever do :lol: It's strange though as i thought that when the rumours of a live action Afro Samurai started doing the rounds it mentioned that Samuel L Jackson was going to play Afro, but then again they were rumours

Classic last resort video rental! You can't beat the moment where Luke Skywalker turns into a turtle. Actually that's all I remember, the sheer shock of that scene erased the rest of the film from my head.
 
I remember Ecks vs Sever being absolute rubbish actually, but she's done some pretty decent films too (Kill Bill vol 1 and Lucky Number Slevin for instance).

More Afro? I can actually see a second helping of that to be a good thing - it was mindless violence from start to finish but it looked so goddamned cool!
