ADV and Animecentral in talks......

Great Teacher
UPDATE: Anime Central have been talking to ADV UK about showing ADV series on Anime Central. As to which series I do not know, but this is a good indication as it opens up a lot of possible new series to Anime Central.
There are threads discussing future anime shows so please read these before posting on the forum:

Caught this on their forum, to be honest I think we all expected this.

To me it was either Animecentral or Sci Fi.

Yeah... I read about this yesterday/or today whilst browsing their forums. I think ADV have mentioned several times before that they'd be happy for some of their titles to be shown on AC. The title I would most like to see getting an airing would be Full Metal Panic!. Since it appeals to all audiences and its great anime all round. Least would be something thats already been shown on AnimeNetwork with me showing no interest. ADV should put some money into AC as well, Since AN is off it would be nice to keep going, Possibly some more marketing and advertising for the channel.

It 'is' an excellent series, ( in my opinion obviously ), and even though I own all of the series on DVD, i'd still watch them again if they were shown on AC.
:D

What's the betting that if they do it'll be Evangelion. lol :p

I would say quite high, But by looking at the series' that have been going for which is usually one Drama (Wolf's Rain, Planetes) along with a couple of Shounen (Bleach, FMA) and one Action (Bebop, GitS) with the loose baggage of Transformers: I'm a ******* robot. It doesn't really fit into any of them. Evangelion is neither action/mecha or really drama. Therefore... Quite low thinking logically. I haven't seen it, But possibly RahXephon has quite a high chance I think. Considering most of ADV's releases are 13 episodes and/or frantic comedy's and for AC they really haven't got much off a library in the UK. Le Chevalier D'Eon sounds like a title AC might possibly go for.

Not ADV, Beez though, AC should air Eureka Seven. They could do with another 50+ series. Especially one that seems to be pretty good.

I think the problem a lot of older or more serisous Anime fans are going to have is that what evere comes on, unless it is really new or obscure they probably own or have seen. Thats not to say they would not enjoy seeing them on TV so that others can appreciate some great shows.

The other thing is the companies are being a bit caucious in what they are putting out. As they are probably always thinking how it may effect sales of DVDs, so are showing stuff they have probably made their money back on, on the flip side there are always the series that may not have done so well that they are trying to generate intrest in like Witch Hunter Robin, which I like but seems to be a bit of a take it or leave it title around here.

Out of the shows mentioned that I have not seen I would like to see Eureka Seven. The one I have seen but most people should enjoy is Full Metal Panic, but if they use the DVD trailer to advertise it there will be alot of confused people when it comes on as they focus on the mechs a bit too much.

Would love to see some of these series but unfortunately I have already seen most of the series suggested

True, but there's just something about watching a series on TV and knowing that there are thousands of people watching it at the same time.

I am not sure what their license is like but I would assume they can only show from 9pm. I think if they can show earlier it would be a good move to have maybe more for lack of a better term “kid friendlyâ€

Anime Central needs a new logo. Maybe they should change their name and use Anime Network's logo, because AN's logo is much more marketable. Seriously, I know it's not that big of an issue but "Anime Central" is incredibly plain :[

I agree with Dracos, there should be "kid friendly" anime before 6pm. Not sure exactly what, but maybe Kero Gunso (if ADV ever get around to dubbing it) would be a good idea?

I think I've said this before, but Gurren Lagann would be a great series to have on TV. It would look great in ads for the channel, too - because it's so energetic and hyperactive.

I think something they could really do with is a good slot highlighting what new anime and manga is coming to the UK. Although this may not be quite necessary for existing fans who know where to look, it could be a real boost to the industry showing people that have just enjoyed watching something on the channel that there is more stuff out there like that.

I think this is a positive move, this could bolster Animecentral catalogue significantly.

I think it is possibly the best thing for anime in the UK at the moment as I really don’t think there is enough interest to keep two channels running with similar show times, unless they each were a bit more specialised, say one shonen one shojo. If the companies can work together properly we will hopefully see the best that anime has to offer not just filler because they don’t have a big enough catalogue.

This was mentioned at MCM last year in the "Anime on TV panel". Hugh David said there would be no problems with AC showing ADV series. Also Mark plans to show shorter series once AC is more established.

He actually said words to the effect that they would show shorter series if it became economically viable if memory serves correctly. Paying the same amount for 13 episodes as you would for 26 episodes is a hard sell for any executives of a TV channel. If ADV's anime comes in at a more competitive price for a 13 episode series then they would have no problem snapping up a couple of them and show the pair back-to-back.

Also you have the problem of a 13 ep series burning out in less than a week. Lots of money for very little airtime and frequent repeats with the current format. The downside to an ep per night.

Fingers crossed the advertising revenue is generating some good cash for them.

Feb will bring news on whats coming next for AC so we shall see.

I'm thinking that once they have been established for a while and have enough series in their stable, they might switch from nightly to weekly, or at least 'less often', which would mean that burning all the episodes in the space of a week would no longer be a problem.
