46" LCD TV: £260.... TO GOOD TO BE TRUE???

Best thing I can normally suggest when looking for new AV kit is to pick up a copy of What HiFi Sound and vision they have good reviews and they have a section explaining lots of terms.

I will check out your link properly and get back with what I think.

Though if it is big and cheap it is likely using older technology, and with the speed that improvements are being made it may not be such a bargin. Also for a screen that size you need to sit about 10 feet or more from it or you will notice the pixelation, which is why I am holding off getting a LCD until they do 1080P regulary on screens below 40 inches.

EDIT: Had a look, it does not sound that good to be honest the main thing that would put me of is that it only has an anologue tuner, with digital switch over round the corner that is not good. Also for a big screen the resolution is low. However if you really want a big screen at bargin prices it may not be all bad freeview boxes are cheap which will fix the tuner. Also try checking out how made the LCD panel it uses as there are only a few companies that do and you may find it is the same as one used in a better brand item that got good reviews.

If you're just looking for a big tele, then it's probably a good deal. However, for me, the lack of composite and component video connections would be an instant no sale, not to mention for it's size it lacks 1080p full HD.

It also lacks built-in freeview, which a lot of good teles these days include. But it's not like freeview boxes cost much anyway.

With this TV, the money spent will equal the quality of the TV.

From the details, the brightness is very low which means the picture won't look as alive or vibrant as it could. If you were to buy a decent TV 3000:1 brightness would be suitable rather than the 600:1 given.

A screen that big without being HD you will actually find the picture quality worse than if you had a smalller screen - it's cheap, but doesn't look very good TBH.

You definately want a 1080p mate if your looking at buying a tv, cheap lcd's are everywhere these days but you wanna go with quality and hi-def settings or else you might as well just buy a standard tv

Yes. its ****.

You would be better spending your money on a better tv. 24-32" depending on whats on offer. possibly second hand would get you some good stuff.

you get what you pay for. always.
