2am my computer sound packed up today so i thought hey lets fix it....6hours later hey i learnt a lot from intraweb surfing except how to fix the sound -,-

Roll back your sound drivers to whenever it did work.

My sound crapped up about 3 weeks ago, and a rollback fixed it right up.

Hmm, what manufacturer is it?

You could take a visit to their site, and find the driver suitable for the speakers you have, and then just re-install the whole sha-bang. ;)

Either that or you could re-install the software for the speakers (if there was any to begin with).
 
Go to the home site and download the drivers from scratch, or alternatively switch to the mother boards onboard sound card if you have one. I binned my soundblaster one last year and now stick with the onboard ones as its less hassel in the end

if you know the make & model of the soundcard they should be able to find the driver, & its free

Something similar happened to my Old laptop a week ago. It was fine & when I needed to get assignment work done it died, after I had just rebuilt it & all
 
google???? other than that the actualy microsoft download program that comes with windows should detect and update it
 
I hope so i google it nothing -.-

Seems a lot of people get this error i just have to wait for the update tonight.
