"Tiger & Bunny" Movie Pair Confirmed

Today was the Tiger & Bunny Hero Awards 2011 event in Kanagawa, Japan. The event was shown twice (once in the morning, once in the evening) and those who attended the morning event were asked to not reveal the event's big announcement.

The internet was rife with speculation following the morning event, with some people on twitter breaking the embargo. However, we finally have confirmation that beginning in 2012, Sunrise will be releasing 2 "Tiger & Bunny" movies in Japan.

Since it started airing in Japan this April, "Tiger & Bunny", a fascinating new take on the superhero genre, has been catapulted into success with best selling DVD and blu-ray releases and numerous items of merchandise. The anime has gained a large international following due to being legally streamed in the United States by Viz Media and in the UK by AnimeOnDemand.

Yaaay. Hope the first one comes out in August.

I think this will be a good format for the continuation since it will allow for some longer stories without filler. It still feels too soon to shift the focus to different superheroes in their world (as some have been suggesting for a sequel series).

This is good news. This really does have a lot of potential, specially considering how much there is to possibly cover. Will just have to wait for more news and trailers when they arrive. When they do, i'll fire a front page news post or something when i get the chance.

I'm not sure if they're just random footage or what (most likely are random footage), but seeing Tiger falling into a shark's mouth and Dragon Kid vs Rock Bison (Neglected Heroine vs Neglected Hero?)...gotta love Dragon Kid's face when she's all electrocuting.

To be perfectly honest, if the movies are set after the series, Tiger is still a hero and is still the main focus...it'll probably suck xD

I'd prefer it much more if he was still around, just in a different capacity (like a trainer or something).

At one of Cons the producer (I think it was) was at, he outright asked if people wanted to see more Lunatic. Lunatic and Ouroboros are the two main unexplored plot elements so I think it's safe to say that both of them will be receiving focus in the films; it's only logical.
 
I like the implication that there was a chance they would just leave us hanging re: Lunatic. Would be a bit weird to see them carry on that plot line in a movie though, when it seemed set up to be the main focus of season two.

Some other story involving Ouroboros would be good, though. By its nature, it is quite flexible in terms of the type of stories you can tell.
