11/08/2014: New Manga Releases This Week

Will get Magi and Monster Soul.

Might get Kinokoinu Mushroom Pup.

Need to catch up on Crimson Spell, Deadman Wonderland and Loveless.

I reviewed One is Enough months ago when Gen released it online. Can't remember what I wrote about it. Need to check.

Fairy Tail & Loveless enroute

Why is Negima 28 on this list? It's been out for ages, is it a reprint or a revised version?

It's the Kodansha version. Kodansha started publishing the series with volume 29 (taking over from Del Rey/Tanoshimi), and then went back and rereleased the first 27 volumes in omnibus format. Volume 28 was thus the odd one out, and so this 'release' is filling in that gap

That kinda makes sense, except why bother doing a solo release of 28 when they might aswell continue the omnibus format?

They answered that on tumblr a while back. They released 1-27 as 9x 3 in 1 omnibuses, but they wanted to continue releasing the new volumes (29+) as singles, so rather than disrupt the flow of 3 in 1 editions by making a 4 in 1 or 2 2 in 1's, they just rereleased the single volume of 28.

It's still kinda weird tbh, they obviously continued the series where del ray left off with singles for vol 29+ while also doing omnibuses of the earlier volumes.

But now that all the singles have been out for ages I don't understand why when they hit 28 they aren't doing an omnibus 28-30, as it stands I assume they are just going to stop now and leave it as half omnibus and half singles?

Agree with Rosencrantz, seems like it would have been more sensible to just continue to release Omnibus editions. I assume they must have been selling well enough, but who knows what the numbers look like in terms of how many people were buying the Omnibus releases and also the later singles.

Gonna assume you didn't write anything overly positive if it left this level of impression. :p
