Question about Manga/Crunchyroll UK sublicensed releases of US Viz BDs; what are the subtitles like? Viz's releases have subtitles without much of a border; they blend into the background and can be difficult to read. My question is, are the Manga/Crunchyroll UK discs for those titles exactly...
Regarding Nadia's packaging, their description's pretty vague: "The full set of discs are stored within a rigid slipcase." Is that a digipak? Amaray cases? Maybe that hasn't been determined yet, since there aren't really packaging shots?
Wait, it does include English subtitles? Are you absolutely sure? Everything I've seen said it only had the English dub, which is why I never picked it up.
For non-Aniplex titles, I know the 90s Berserk TV on BD would be one; that's never gotten a BD release in the US.
But I suppose I see your point; if MVM has poor sales expectations, even relatively limited costs might not seem worthwhile. It's interesting that DVDs are still considered viable...
A licensor restriction very well might be the reason, but that's a completely different reason than the one I was questioning. Just thought the idea that the U.S. release being DVD only as the limiting factor was odd, considering the number of UK only BD releases.
New transfer? One already exists, as I mentioned in the very post you quoted. That's my whole point; the materials already exist, and a new transfer isn't required. If it was DVD only in Japan, I wouldn't even wonder about it.
I don't see how that explains it; MVM's released things like Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs, which never got released in the U.S. at all, on blu-ray. Also, Air has a blu-ray release in Japan; it was one of the earliest anime releases on BD, way back in 2006. So the materials already exist for BD.
Any particular reason to think that?
Because to me, it looks like AL licensed Kakegurui planning on using the Netflix dub, but the extreme delay for a release makes me think they had trouble getting it. Either it's taking this long to negotiate a workable price, or AL gave up on releasing the...
Really, really hoping that one of them is Kakegurui; feels like I've been waiting ages for that to get a release. Shame Anime Limited only has the license for season 1, but I liked the first season better than the second anyway (although I'd be happy to have both).
I'd also be interested in a...
I'd say that the chances of them accidentally including the trailer to a show they don't have is basically zero. So they have Nana, that's pretty much certain. It's really just a question of when they release it at this point, not if. The fact that we've seen a trailer for it (when we haven't...
I'm not super familiar with most of the 80s mecha series either, and it's not one of my favorite genres either (although there are a couple, like Votoms, that are truly excellent). I've never seen Laserion or Daltanious either.
I can give you an interesting trivia fact about Daltanious, though...
Not sure about the What If ones off hand, but I think they're pretty short and insubstantial.
Very Merry Christmas is a full adaptation of novel 6, however, and is fairly long. I believe it's 3 hours or so; not sure of the exact runtime, but it's roughly that.
Nope, the US set had the What If dramas (which honestly are pretty insubstantial); the Very Merry Christmas audio drama, which is the only adaptation of novel 6, has never received any English release. And that's exactly why I'll be getting the UK set, even though I have the US one already.
Again, false, except for episode 1, like I explained in my last comment. This is a misperception that started because Funimation initially only released screenshots from episode 1, leading people to draw that conclusion. Later released screenshots from other episodes, and testimonials from...
Whoa, whoa, whoa. What you're saying is completely false. The Anniversary BDs are NOT the season BDs cropped back to 4:3. They are restored to the original 4:3 ratio. Speaking from personal experience here, as I have both.
Episode 1, specifically, is more cropped than previous releases...
