I own the Japanese release of Devilman: Crybaby and the upcoming Anime Limited set looks to be mirroring it. I can assure you it’s likely going to be an oversized box set.
I didn’t have high hopes things were going to change, but I couldn’t help checking either. There’s simply no way to predict what things are going to look like as America takes a gigantic leap backwards. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects Anime Limited doing business in the US moving...
The licenses for Dear Brother and The Rose of Versailles are almost certainly expensive compared to EX-ARM. I guarantee you AL licensing the latter has no affect over them picking up the former.
I can confirm Anime Ltd. never released The Ancient Magus' Bride. That would have been Manga Entertainment for the two parts (1, 2) releases and Crunchyroll for the complete series collection. The OVAs are included in the Part One set and also the complete series collection.
Finally, got some confirmation regarding the US release.
All the Anime: “We'll also be releasing this film in the US - we'll share more details once we have them!”
Okay, but that doesn’t answer my question. The early bird is available now for City Hunter: Angel Dust, but there’s still no mention of a physical release for NA.
@Hanners
I know Anime Limited previously announced having theatrical rights in North America for City Hunter: Angel Dust, but do they also have the physical media rights too?
I’m not familiar with that brand, but a cursory search leads me to believe it is generally an All-in-One vinyl player. You want to avoid these types of players specifically because the built-in speakers will cause vibrations that will knock the stylus off the grooves of the records. Hence all...
While the DVD format is going the way of the dodo, I wouldn't be against SDBD potentially taking it's place. Everything isn't going to be upgraded or remastered into high definition. I'm also not particularly wild about AI upscales becoming the new norm either. While the folks at MediaOCD (i.e...
I see Crunchyroll’s milking Akira for everything it’s worth. It would’ve been nice to have seen some different artwork though. This will be the third release in a row that’s reused these same pieces (in the US.)
It ain’t that big of a gap! Crunchyroll seemingly has no real interest in doing Limited Edition releases past a show’s first season (with exceptions.) It begs the question of why even bother offering them because it only serves to frustrate collectors. I can’t imagine it helps sales either since...
I think a big part of it’s failure was due to Media Blasters trying to continue the volume release’s strategy (i.e a handful of episodes per release) instead of the parts releases (i.e a single cour per release) Funimation popularized a few years prior. I think a company like Discotek could give...
Nope. I imagine a Season 2 license will likely hinge on if the first one does well. I’m not a big fan of shows being dropped either. I do feel skimping on the English dub hurt SAC_2045’s chances of being more successful since Netflix did manage to bring back the LA cast (which is a huge selling...
