Is it? I'm not sure that I would compare those two films together. Sure Akira is a great film, but it does have its problems, such as only adapting the first half of the original manga story. There is still a lot that never got told.
Ranma 1/2, Episode 1 - Nice to relive this old series. Animation is good, the slapstick humour certainly made me laugh, and I'm relieved that in the English dub that the spring guide doesn't have a dodgy Chinese accent, like in the dub for the original anime.
Negative Positive Angler, Episode 1. A story about someone with a serious illness getting into fishing. I'm not saying it sounds familiar, but I will say that if later in the series I see a dog searching for a briefcase, Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse might want to sue for copyright...
Uzumaki, Episode 1. While I am annoyed by the fact that Channel 4 only has this available in the English dub, the performances are fine, and the show itself has gotten off to a good start.
