S2 EP12 (day behind)
An interesting episode, the book not existing, was interesting it was almost like mass hysteria, to the point people believe they have copies of the book Interesting how the “Virus occurs” and almost takes out Borma until Ishikawa gives him a right hook...
Akira has too many intrinsically Japanese values and ideas. The coming of age side of things also means that all the actors mentioned are at least 10 years to old too.
I can't see how this has much in common with the original work apart from the name...
This is going to end up as Kanada and his bunch of vespa driving mods up against the clown's motor bike riding rockers. In a Mad max meets quadrophenia mashup with physic powers set in new new york.
S2 EP11
A lovely episode. The emotional and physical background to Motoko isn't covered in the previous series and they add so much to her character. Her comment "I'll bet that even now...that girl is still searching for the first boy she ever loved." is an interesting eye opener to her...
WTF, Tetsuo is like 25 now? And it is being set in New Manhattan? So it is effective be ing set in NEW NEW YORK?
If any of this comes off it's going to be the biggest bag of balls since Dragon ball!
S2 EP10
I really like the episode, nicely written and executed, a tight trial sequence, we see many features of section nine. Togusa's sense of (misplaced?) justice and temper. The majors own intervention and even a hit by Borma!
I like family side of Togusa, but I find him less likeable...
Distracted by the boobs maybe? The Letch seemed to suggest she has a fairly standard appearance?
One thing interesting about the episode, is that Goda seems to feel the Major hack the system? Also he said that it was late? IE he expected them to hack in?
Unless they changed things on the dvd release, the first ep was actually ep24 or something!
I actually thought that Divergence Eve was a passable space opera ruined by stupidly huge boobs!
S2 EP9
Hmm my knowledge of the social structures means that some of Godas ideals are lost on me. However the cyber attack is quite interesting. The visualisation of a denial of service attack and using viruses and dummy viruses to fool a security system while you literally walk in is a novel...
S2 EP8
You really get a feeling of wading through all lies and counter arguments while searching for the truth. Interesting to see the “infected” journalist and Goda's reaction to it. Overall a plot laden episode. You also get to see the Tachikoma in their web guise.
GITS 1.5 is pretty good, I have that and the non censored GITS Manga by Dark Horse. I don't have 2.0, is it worth looking for?
Btw which EP is it supposed to be today? I was going to watch 8 and 9?
S2 EP7 too (late)
Yes an episode to display how dislikeable and manipulative Goda is. Taking the "green" JSDF soldiers was obviously a ploy to make the operation go badly and give some “killed civilians to ignite the refugees.
As for the art, hmm its ok but no worse than ep 3's badly drawn...
S2 EP6
Nicely written episode, which has plot relevant to later episodes. I wonder If Togusa thought the black suits were following him not her? Nuclear accidents in Japan... hmm sounds familiar..
Cloudedminds, your not going to watch it with us? Were only on EP6!
S2 EP5
An interesting episode, certainly a slow burner. The background to the individual eleven is quite interesting. The animation for the final fight sequence is pretty nicely done. The introduction to Kuze, is quite low key I feel?
S2 EP4,
A plot episode, introducing Gouda for the first time. The plot thickens, a device activates in the in the blood stream of a army pilot flying a prototype helicopter causing a heart attack and the AI in the helicopter stops responding to external commands . Also manipulation of evidence...
S2 EP3,
Hmm not a favourite, Its a but fun, but is it me or is the animation in this episode a bit slack? There are a few times when the major's and Togusa's faces look down right goofy. Its almost 90's styled on purpose?
