Most of the time UK/AU releases use the exact same disc master as the US, sometimes even down to the region coding (Regions A+B) so any instances of locked subtitles will carry over. It's not surprising if locked subs are mandated for overseas releases still though because, as Aniplex USA haters...
I'm... actually pretty baffled by that SRP. Considering it's four self authored BD50s, a 100 page booklet and a box, I expected a much higher price.
Am I reading it correctly that this is literally the same files from the Japanese BDs with sub/dub added like Baccano? If so that makes this even...
For anyone wondering how the Blu-ray looks in comparison to the Anime Limited DVD release, you can find a few caps from the BD here and DVD here.
Alternatively I've also done direct comparison shots on screenshotcomparison here (1-6) and here (7-12). With the exception of shot 7 which captured...
I'm down for an Outlaw Star Blu-ray. The HD transfer for the show is absolutely fantastic and it's by far the best to come from Sunrise.
I... wouldn't be down for an Ultimate edition though...
Don't get me wrong, I really like the idea of Ultimate editions but I'm really not fond of the large...
Received today. Got one more coming tomorrow.
I thought that was well known at this point? They bulk buy from Rightstuf.
I've had packages shipped where they've just reused the branded Rightstuf box. Example.
Erm... WHAT. I don't think anyone asked for this, especially at $220. Pretty sure the Japanese singles were on Amazon JP for ~1500 yen each the other week too.
Given the pretty barren release slate I can only guess that A) TWGOK didn't do that great for Sentai later on and B) They got no licenses.
If you're complaining then I'll happily take it off your hands... I'm legitimately interested to see/hear what PonyCanyon's Euph disc is like quality wise.
Dayum. I've never seen that art before but it looks bloody amazing.
You have to consider multiple things there... How many fans in the UK are aware there's a limited (near) complete BD set in the US?
Out of those, how many can play Region A discs? Out of the remaining selection, how many would be willing to pay the >£100 price tag?
A bunch of us here may/will...
Cheers for that one. Managed to nab it before the price rise again. Death Note was one of the first anime shows I watched and I don't regard it anywhere near as highly as others do, so £25 vs > £50 for the US edition was a no brainer (assuming this one doesn't get the Mangled treatment). We'll...
Or it could just be down to having to author the discs themselves/being busy enough as is? It'd be silly to sit on the rights to something like Haruhi.
I believe Andrew did mention there could be some extra solicitations over the next few months though, so it could still pop up. I could see it...
I'm in the same position. I was relatively happy to let this one go after pre-ordering Free! ES and Blood Blockade, especially considering I haven't seen it before, but now I'm back to square one. A big thing that's making the decision difficult for me is wanting to see comparison shots first...
Man, I'd love to love in Edinburgh right now... You have no idea just how much I want to see Koe and Your Name. ;_______;
Really hoping that the creation of Engsubs for the two greatly increases the chances of subbed JP BDs at least...
Yay! Kawaisou! I've been waiting for that one to hit BD for ages. I really liked the show when it aired so I'll definitely pick it up.
Remember, it's the complete series and not half sets. It's technically much cheaper than if it were two sets as they'd have an SRP of $69.98 each.
I can tell when there's delays as this thread tends to blow up...
Really feel for you on this one Andrew considering the delays all seem to be hitting one after another. I'm just hoping Blood Blockade Battlefront and Tatami Galaxy don't get pushed back further at this point. Speaking of which...
Wonder what exactly has happened with this one? Part of me wonders whether the license has reverted or has been licensed/sublicensed to Funimation for the UK (their release was region AB).
Cheers for the consolidated post Grav. A lot of interesting announcements as well as some... questionable decisions... (Seriously?! A F***ing sock in a LE!). Discotek in particular has evidently been very busy and has a lot of titles I've not heard of/seen that I'd be interested in acquiring...
