    BELLE Cinema Screening Review

How random reminds me of what happened with the recent Evangelion Death/EOE showing where the advertised Classic Dub showings used the Netflix dub

    BELLE Cinema Screening Review

I like Hosoda's early films, but I was let down by Boy and the Beast and Mirai, which suffered by only having Hosoda handle the writing. IMO, he works best with a good collaborator like Reiko Yoshida or Satoko Okudera

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Looks like key animation for Hayao Miyazaki's next film, How Do You Live?, will be completed in February. I imagine Covid must've sped up production. 2023/2024 release might be plausible, as Suzuki said it was "at least three years away" in early 2021.

The teaser trailer and theatrical poster for Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island have just been released. The film is a retelling of Episode 15 of the original TV 1979 series, and will be directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. It will be releasing in Summer 2022. Hopefully an international...

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

It looks the AL / Gkids BD of Lupin III: The First use the theatrical version rather than the home video version, as 2D smoke is missing. Seems more an issue with TMS than anything though, as other territories didn't have the smoke in the intro.

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

On-Gaku: Our Sound has bits of unsubbed dialogue, which is pretty noticeable in one scene. There's are two instances of songs which aren't subtitled, and there's also some signs which aren't translated.

Tell Clements that he's a fake Hosoda fan if he thinks that Digimon: Our War Game and One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island were "work-for-hire"

    Anime at the cinema

Holy ****. I hope someone can license Angel's Egg one day. It's probably one of my favourite Mamoru Oshii films, and it's the kind of film that deserves wider exposure.

The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

I'm pretty sure that it had a DVD release in the US. No DVD release in the UK though. A lot of classic anime are weirdly only on VHS over here. I'm sure Fist of the North Star: The Movie would be a decent seller, as that was a big seller for Manga UK back in the 90s.

UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Very true, and a few things that have yet to get home video releases here. The only other distributer I can think of that might have licensed Summer Ghost is Funimation, since they do make the effort to give anime films theatrical runs.

Robotech - Part 1: The Macross Saga Review

From what I've seen on Blu-ray.com, the PQ looks better than the JPBD of SDF Macross, and I'm honestly all for classic TV series keeping film grain, as grain is just a natural part of film. The BD of Gundam 0079 has excessive DNR which ruins the line work in the process, along with the issue of...
