The current deal of the week is Princess Principal on Blu-Ray. It's a really fun little show about spies in a steampunk Victorian London. The English Dub is fun. You get to hear a solid set of core performances and then a bunch of American actors doing British accents of varying degrees of...
Excalibur (1981) - Could you compress the entire Arthurian legend into a 2 hour film without it feeling disjoined? No but John Boorman put everything he had into making each of those disjoined pieces feel unique. Nicol Williamson's portrayal of Merlin helps immensely as he transitions from...
Evangelion: 3.0 1.0 thrice upon a time - Not really sure what to make of that to be honest.
It does correctly build on 3.33 and helps that film a lot by providing answers and meaningful progression. Could that stuff have been in 3.33 itself? Yes. But actually understanding what people were...
Pre-Ordered My Dress-Up Darling from MVM. Getter Robo Armageddon, Planet With and Tsuredure Children as part of the Right Stuff closing down sale. Which feels like a gamble because something could go wrong but hopefully it's fine.
I have also ordered a figure of Momohime from the game Muramasa...
Gunbuster Ep 1-6 - Enjoyed this a lot. It feels like someone on the production team (presumably Anno) just got possessed for Episode 5 because the contrast between its style and the pervious episodes is so ridiculously stark. Overall it's just a really solid mecha anime compressed into 3 hours...
Thanks. My issue is more if Otaku.co.uk will be able to get the stock at all now. Because a RightStuff order might my only shot at some of these titles for a while, especially if they aren't on other sites like WowHD (which I have also never used)
I’d hate that because AOL is still the better of the two. Especially now Anime Limited is owned by Embracer, a company clearly in dire straights after a gaming buy-out fell through. They are cutting jobs and closing the down entire companies to survive.
I'm 27 and joined last year because it felt like a forum would be a far better place to talk about anime than any social media platform.
Never a dull moment with this company. At this point everyone who's not subscribed to Chrunchyroll is never going to do it so this is just to unify the brand...
Anime-On-Line seems to be down at the moment. Very unusual.
In lighter news my copy of Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day was shipped and arrived quickly. So MVM might be past the issues they've been having the past month.
There is an anime limited survey that you can still fill out until midnight tonight. I got a link/reminder in my email his morning, so if you are interested then give it a look.
This is the first time in years I just didn't get anything in a big Anime Limited sale. Partly because I couldn't...
Resonance of Fate (known as End of Eternity in Japan) released back in 2010 and then re-released in 2018. I tried this on the PS3 but dropped off early on so I felt like I should revisit it. It's JRPG that is turn-based in a very unusual way as it combines real-time combat elements and focuses...
Went to Ikea yesterday to get some ideas. I am at the point where I really need to trim down and organise what I own. Having a lot of manga, graphic novels, games and DVDs is just getting to be too much and I think it'll be easier if I have places to put it all and also focused on making it look...
Just finished the first season of Twin Peaks.
Everyone always gives on an odd impression of what that show is. The thing I heard for years was that Twin Peaks was a show where the initial mystery didn't matter. They find the dead body of Laura Palmer and it's an excuse to have an FBI agent in...
Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers Episodes 1-3
I’ve been liking this but it does not feel like the story will conclude at the end of the first and only season. Adlet Mayer is a pretty fun lead character. The smug little so-and-so is about as skilled as he says but also gets knocked around for his...
Thank you all the same. I've been able to cancel most of my order but I've needed to send in an email to see if an outstanding item can be cancelled. The site won't let that go through for whatever reason so hopefully they get back me.
In any case you've helped me save some money. And I'll...
Deathtrap (1982)
Enjoyed this more and more as it went on. Michael Caine does an excellent job as a burnout, jaded playwright and as the plot unravels it starts to revel in its over-the-top and even metatextual leanings. The ending is a bit sudden but it's alright for the type of movie it ended...
