Overseas Upcoming Non-UK Anime BD/DVD Artwork

That F91 cover looks gorgeous. Hopefully as it's BR it's one Anime Ltd will be able to bring over here.

I haven't seen the Ajin anime as I don't have Netflix - but I'm up to speed on the manga, and it's immensely satisfying.

Upcoming UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Artwork

Yeah, it's amazing how much Anime Ltd have come ahead in even just the past year when it comes to their Collectors / Ultimate Editions - feels like they've got them down to a fine art now in terms of quality. Comparing the Escaflowne set to the Gurren Laggann set is like comparing chalk and cheese.

What manga are you reading now?

I've been spacing those out as even the Kindle versions are on the pricier side. I do love both of them (with a preference for xxxHolic) - but I can see why for a lot of people they were a turn off for them toward CLAMP / a kind of end of an era for their dominance. I can heartily recommend X -...

MCM London Comic Con - October 2016 News Thread

Same - with the new CR / Funi deal I had wondered if this would be up for grabs in terms of a dub as it was extremely well recieved critically - but equally, it's so rooted in Japanese culture (specifically focusing on spoken word too) that a dub would be a tricky one to say the least (although...

Overseas Upcoming Non-UK Anime BD/DVD Artwork

Those were the glory days of anime on UK Telly. Pokemon and Digimon opening the way, and then stuff like Cardcaptor Sakura, Monster Rancher and Sonic popping up too.

Random question, but is Sonic X the Sonic series that used to air on UK telly? (ITV I think?)

UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Speaking of Aniplex and Rurouni Kenshin - I would love to see Trust & Betrayal and Reflections re-issued as Blu-Rays. I still have the original ADV DVD box, but really - especially in the case of Trust & Betrayal, that thing deserves BR treatment.

Saw the FMA box they had in the glass case at MCM and seriously, the size of the book alone is crazy - it's like proper coffee table book size.

Thinking back, I think it's over a year now since I watched the final episode of Bleach. I have really mixed feelings about that show - it was the first of the big Shonen three that I really got into, and I pretty much marathoned through the show up until the end of the Hueco Mundo arc. But it...

The Official HdE Does Anime Thread

ROD seems to be one of those franchises that was a really big name back in the day, but most people have forgotten now. I watched the OVAs a while back and really enjoyed them - they had that retro feel that most anime these days really can't capture. So I'd definitely be interested in checking...

What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Yeah, I'm really glad they finally made it all available as an ebook. The new volume sold a crazy amount in Japan - so I'm interested to see how it does when the English version comes out. It's been over two years since the last one, and the material it's covering is completely inaccessible to...

Normally I'd agree with you. I'm definitely not in the 'read the light novel / VN' camp - I generally despair of shows that people say you need to have read the original source material to properly 'get'. But I guess I'm referring to stuff that isn't source material - ie. essays or interviews...

MCM London Comic Con - October 2016 News Thread

I don't know - personally I don't think price is the issue with Gundam. Sure, maybe it'd sell a few more copies at a lower cost, but personally I think the price it's been sold at is very reasonable for the number of episodes you get. Being a big Gundam fan, the unfortunate truth imo is that UC...

MCM London Comic Con - October 2016 News Thread

Didn't they say in the past that Gunbuster was a tricky one because of music licensing? Also - does anyone know if MVM is still planning to announce any new licenses this weekend, or is it just those two new ones for them this time?

I have to admit - when it comes to the booklets, I'm hoping for more with text-based content, essays etc. in them in the future. Obviously this is more expensive in terms of translation costs - but for me, while art books are lovely to look at, the Anime Ltd releases in the past that I've...

I have to admit, comparing reading the first LOGH novel to watching the first few eps of the series - I personally far preferred the pacing and flow of the novel, which I finished in a day or two. Considering the series stretches the first two books over 26 eps, I get the feeling the pace in...

    LGBT+ anime- any recommendations?

From The New World maybe - although that show is kinda... fluid in terms of its depiction of sexuality in general.

Manga Recommendations for a 9 year old

Cardcaptor Sakura would definitely be a good shout. Maybe Sweetness & Lightning? I remember personally Sailor Moon kinda surprised me - it's definitely pretty dark in places, with character deaths and the depiction of its villains. One of the characters also has sex (although it doesn't show...

    Autumn 2016 what'cha watchin'?

Have to admit there are a few in danger of being dropped - mainly Flip Flappers and Bungo Stray Dogs - in both cases I love the visuals, and can see the appeal, but they're just not resonating with me on a character or story level. The popularity of Stray Dogs in particular really baffles me.
