To my mind, the trust-worthiness of a post can be directly correlated with the amount of smilies in said post. Consider yourself trusted, and going by what you're saying here, Higurashi looks like the kind of anime I could watch with my Mum & Dad! I'll let you know how that goes!
Even though I loved horror, I've never actually seen When They Cry because the 'moe-ness' of the character designs has always put me off. Ten years on and we're still talking about it, so I guess it's worth a look after all?
I feel like there's still a piece of the puzzle missing as far as Funi/Sony is concerned. Why would they pull these releases from the UK? Maybe they are planning on releasing (some) of these series over here themselves? Maybe they are sub-licensing them to another company? Or worst of all, maybe...
I don't think I can remember a 'big' company like Sony ever doing well for anime over here, the sales numbers are often too meagre for them to take much of any notice, which is why we're always better served by independent local companies/labels like Anime Ltd & MVM who are more passionate about...
It's pretty sad how all of this has played out. When I was first getting into anime, Ross & UKA was the first site that I reached out to before I ended up making AUKN instead. For him to quit UKA is sad, as is the lack of nuance and discussion when arguments like this are carried out in public...
Shocked that every episode didn't get rated 18.
BBFC is so much more lenient than it used to be (I still remember importing the banned Exorcist & Texas Chainsaw Massacre films!)
I know what I'm watching tonight, that's for sure.
I caught the first episode before work this morning. Suffice to say, it's faithful to the spirit of the manga, in that it's extremely violent and sexual and unhinged in that very specific Go Nagai fashion.
Cracking my way through Inuyashiki having read about the anime. It's fun to read in the same way that that Gantz was. Very interested to see where this is all headed, and how the anime fares too.
It was fine. I tried out both language tracks on my PS4 and they were up to par for what I would expect. The picture quality was also good, no visible compression artefacts or other issues associated with low quality video transcodes. I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
Although it's harsh to say I was expecting more from a 10+ minute short, I don't think Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 was as good as Watanabe's Animatrix efforts. Really beautifully animated, though, so definitely worth watching. Watanabe without Keiko Nobumoto is lacking something.
Cracked through Tsuki ga Kirei over the weekend. It's a very watchable, understated romance anime with likeable characters. Part of me wishes it had a bit more bitterness to offset that, but perhaps it's better to see something that's just so earnestly... happy for once. I recommend it.
An interesting read. Disappointing that it's suggesting yet more dilution of the anime streaming industry, and specifically another blow to Crunchyroll.
