So it seems there's a new case of Bootlegs/Theft hitting Amazon US lately

Seems the fakes are getting more sophisticated. My only exposure to bootlegs has been on ebay, and when the seller sent me one it just came across as insulting. It didn't even look the same as the pictures they'd posted. Weird that they'd factory press legit looking copies of out of print DVDs...

Legal Streaming 2018: Q1 Winter Season | The Year of the Sequels

Discotek have started posting the 1988 series Osomatsu-kun to Youtube. Episode one is up so far in Japanese with subs, and it isn't locked to the US. Discotek Posts Osomatsu-kun Anime's 1st Episode With English Subtitles

I've discovered quite a few series through them myself. I probably wouldn't have watched Mushishi, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, or Welcome to the NHK if I didn't have a region free player. Of course exchange rates have taken a big hit since 2016, so I tend not to order as much from overseas...

Yeah, if you have a region free player, the SAVE line is well worth digging through occasionally. The box art leaves a little to be desired, but if you wanna try something on the cheap it's probably the best way to do so besides just streaming it.

That's actually why I have it in the first place. I saw the full BD in the SAVE line for about £15 or less and thought it was worth getting just because it's rare to see a Blu-ray set that cheap. It was a little over my head at the time, but I have more patience for slow burners now than I did...

Hmm, I've had the US BD of that on my shelf for about six years now. I recall watching one or two episodes of it and never touching it again. Perhaps I should give it another go.

Violet Evergarden ep 1 - Well it has hooked me in like a good first episode should, so no complaints there. Intriguing premise hinted at, and some of the best visuals I've ever seen in a TV anime. Ancient Magus Bride ep 14 - This show continues to be brilliant. One of the more interesting...

    Favourite Engrish in anime

My favourite has got to be Angela from Genshiken. Angela Burton I can't find a decent clip of her to link to, but she was supposed to be an American character and speaks entirely in English. The problem is they did not get an actual American, or even an English speaker to voice her. Every...

What makes you decide to continue watching a show? And how long do you give a show?

I'd say it gets better, but it doesn't. Unless it miraculously grew a plot in the second half.

What makes you decide to continue watching a show? And how long do you give a show?

The thing about Texhnolyze is that unlike Rick & Morty, the nihilism is all it has. There is nothing to balance that out whatsoever, and from the 12 episodes I saw, the protagonist (if we can call a reactionary character who just hits things a protagonist) is just a total blank slate that spent...

What makes you decide to continue watching a show? And how long do you give a show?

You never did tell me whether you liked it or not when I asked, so I'm glad I am not alone in thinking it is a loathsome waste of Madhouse's talents. Sleep inducing at its best, infuriating at its worst. Buyer beware and all that, though if anyone on this thread wants to see it, it's all on...

    Your controversial anime opinions.

I'd say it was a good show that elevated itself to great with the way it ended. But they've recently decided to go and ruin that, so I may have to adjust my opinion of it depending on what they decide to do.

*looks at unwatched copies on shelf* I'll be back in 10-12 hours.

    Your controversial anime opinions.

That is indeed the case. There is a short list of anime that goes mainstream enough that people who don't watch anime consider it okay to watch. There is a certain subset of people that literally only watch these particular anime. There's nothing wrong with that, but be careful if your opinion...

UK Anime Distributor Funimation UK Discussion Thread (Pre-Manga Merger)

You mean they made it even worse? How the hell have they managed that feat? I swear they must have gotten some poor intern to design their new app; even unofficial sites are more stable.

UK Anime Distributor Funimation UK Discussion Thread (Pre-Manga Merger)

I'm glad that all the stuff that interests me in their catalogue appears to be being drip fed into Crunchyroll. In addition to the horrible buffering and crashes, their subtitles are God awful, to the point that some are so badly timed it makes my head hurt. Some of them are even at the top of...

UK Anime Distributor Funimation UK Discussion Thread (Pre-Manga Merger)

Yes, in fact I cancelled my subscription because it was so horrible. Never have these problems with Netflix or Crunchyroll. There's a huge thread on the Funimation site with pages upon pages of people complaining that the app and site are buggy, but it doesn't look like they're doing anything...

    The great Best Girl debate

Oh shots have been fired. Luna may forgive you, but I certainly won't. Bring it on! Your various waifus shall tremble in fear at my retribution. Disclaimer: I am being somewhat facetious (or am I?), but I ain't taking any of your sass outside of the controvertial opinion thread boy! This thread...

I'm gonna second this. I put mine in tags because I figured this might happen, but every time I open the thread now my browser grinds to a halt while it desperately tries to load the thirty embedded videos on the page . :D
