I remember asking for a replacement sleeve for Utena Part 1 as it got damaged in the post and... nothing.
While the theatrical releases aspect is going strong, it is a shame the home video department is slipping in quality. TBF the QC has always been hit and miss, especially for in-house...
With AL releasing Godzilla: Minus One theatrically, I’m hoping they’ll bring out more live-action Japanese films theatrically, or even on home-video. Anime Supremacy is one that I think would do well.
At the very least watch the first Matrix movie as it'll help out with one of the segments, but otherwise Animatrix works well on it's own, which is an advantage over other tie-in anthologies.
I would've liked to have gone to SLA but with the cost of living crisis plus the expensive travel...
That's the part I find strange. I'm going to assume that maybe they used the Gkids theatrical print shown at SLA but surely if 3.0+1.11 is better I could just wait for the Blu-ray? I'd like to see it theatrically but if it's a worse version then it seems like a lot of effort for a worse experience.
What I'd like to know is if they're showing 3.0+1.11 or 3.0+1.01, because 3.0+1.11 has some significant animation improvements. It's also what's being released on UK Blu-ray.
I'm keeping my hopes that First Slam Dunk will get more screenings as most of the tickets for the nearest screening are already sold out. Doing impressive numbers for a series that never really gets mentioned in discussions much.
