Me and a few mates did try this with shots of rum, made it through about four or five episodes before having to stop in order to avoid a hospital visit...
I think it was my fear that the loli would be his next -ahem- goddess that made me stop watching. Some relief then at least, though small mercies indeed...
I hear you. I never made it to the end of season two. There were some innovative touches in the direction throughout but after a while I just felt too disgusted by Touya to keep watching.
Earlier in the series his flirtations with Yayoi were more excusable and dramatically speaking more...
Yes Man
I'm a Jim Carrey fan, so I suppose I was guaranteed a modicum of enjoyment from this film. All the same I couldn’t help approaching it with cynicism, the high concept gimmick is worryingly similar to another of his films - ‘Liar Liar’ - after all.
All the same this was surprisingly...
Anime haters used to make me rage, however these days I can hardly be bothered to force it onto them.
I might suggest an anime film if I'm having a movie night with mates or possibly recommend a title to someone who might be interested, but those who follow the creed of 'cartoons are for...
True, but there's a fine line between dropping clues and making it obvious. I didn't miss the narrative momentum and there's nothing wrong with foreshadowing in a story, however things like the strong emphasis placed on Mikaze and her relationship to Fumiaki or Chihiro's suspicious behaviour...
Occult Academy
There’s plenty to like about this show: the characters and their designs are immensely appealing, while the animation often displays impressive production values for a TV series and neat little touches on occasion (Maya’s warped facial expressions of rage being a particular...
That more or less confirms a reboot then, one of those scenes looks like the first encounter with Zodd while another appears to be an earlier one of Casca's. Also looks as though those leaked screencaps from before were the real deal too (I spotted a match of at least one in there).
My current longterm fave is Berserk - Epic fantasy, gratuitous violence, gorgeous art and thrilling character development all in one slick package. I'd recommend it to anyone not offended by the extreme content.
I like that a great deal can be accomplished with relatively small budgets, while at it's best the uniformity of animation can create a sense of immersion live-action often lacks. Live action CGI aspires towards photorealism but often fails to convince, jarring with real actors and backdrops...
Cheers for the links Lupus :)
The video and that last image seem to suggest at least part of the story covered in the TV anime is being redone (although it could be a recap style flashback). Looks good animation wise, though I'm concerned about the length and consequent compression of the...
With Oshii helming it's bound to have some slick animation and direction, while 3d could be interesting... Four minutes and 45 seconds is a pretty lean runtime though, I wonder if they'll be able to get any real substance in there between action.
Don't get me wrong, I've seen some of his recent work and at least from a technical standpoint it's impressive, and yeah the definition of 'wasted talent' will largely depend on whether or not your an ero fan. I'm likely being overly opinionated here (one persons trash is anothers treasure etc...
Possibly one of the most shocking wastes of artistic talent I've ever seen. Seems like around the time of Man-machine interface he got bored of doing cyberpunk stories and succumbed to doing dirty illustrations instead. A pity given how much I enjoyed his earlier stuff.
Truly awesome news :D
I remember seeing some screens a while back along with a rumour it would be an OVA done by Studio 4°C. Still, might have all been trolling and fakery so I am curious how this will be done, particularly whether it will be a reboot or a continuation of the original anime.
Yeah, I finished the original run just recently and there seemed to be loads of potential for an anime. As you say, the plot was slightly disconnected here and there but it certainly never became predictable or dull. The whole non-moe thing also struck me as quite refreshing. Since Alita is...
Repo!: The Genetic Opera
Bizarre hybrid of rock opera and horror sci-fi - the concept being a dystopia where organ transplants have become something of a fashion trend, the problem being they can legally be repossessed, resulting in typically gory consequences.
For the first ten minutes I...
