The BBFC are an absolute joke, there practices are far stringent and they are so inconsitant compared to the American MPAA.
America doesn't have this problem as the MPAA only rate films any television shows sets are released without classification this includes anime.
It also doesn't help...
Does anyone think that the Death Note dub isn't that bad? I thought it was ok.
Fullmetal Alchemist dub is superb, in my opinion.
Ron Perlman in Afro Samurai is brilliant, that guy should just get a whole series to himself.
I've heard that Beck and Chobits supposedly have good dubs and...
It's important to remember Afro Samurai is actually Japanese and not a Japanese adaption of a western comic.
Can't wait for this though, hopefully it will air some of the shorts on tv just like the did with the Animatrix. I like the look of this as well, it looks a bit more mature than the...
You make a lot of valid points there.
Though television in general is suffering from piracy and so is the movie industry (year on year slides), anime is going to feel it more because it is niche.
Anime is odd in terms of piracy, it's so easily available and wide spread even for a niche...
I actually think anime was more widely available in Canada than America. I think Andrew from Beez said that the Italian and French markets are bigger than the American market (meaning more mainstream).
Anime in American TV suffers from piss poor ratings considering that there are 116 million...
I challenge you to go to a FYE or any other American equivelant to HMV and find an anime section as big as we have here.
Some American stores don't even have anime sections, in store space the UK is a bit better off. I was actually suprised to see this when I was last in America in October.
I haven't caught Pan's Labyrinth yet but my work mate has got nothing but good things to say about it. I usually watch Sky Indie at home, I'm hoping it will run sometime soon.
Off topic here but I'd like to see Sky do away with Indie and Family and rebrand them Sky World and Sky Animation, in...
Excellent stuff, really good news that the forum members here get an insight into the industry. Bravo to all the companies/employees to take time out of their busy schedule and listen to the fans.
According to BARB it only managed to pull 1,000 viewers a night and reached only 8,000 for the week. This is weird as the channel usually floats about a 100k a week could be a statistical error but I doubt it. I can't imagine it's ratings would plummet so quick, however since Bleach has been...
Stupid question here.
If ADV do link up with Revelation, would this make it easier for television rights? Similar to Madman Entertainment in Australia.
I highly doubt C21media would post this news without any real substance.
C21media are a media news outlet and are highly respected within the industry.
Definately think there is room on digital terrestrial television for a adult animation block, Channel 4 would be the obvious canidate but I wouldn't rule out some others.
This seems to be a mini animation night anyway, Belleville Rendez-vous airs straight after it.
If Ghibli movies are pulling in steady numbers, maybe someone some where will branch out a bit.
I really hope Akira will air this year after all it is it's 20th anniversary, Jonathan Ross will probably host
