Yup, amazing stuff, right down to the last episode. Episode 24 still sticks in my mind though, when Ed leaves, Faye's reminising and Spike and Jet are feeling sad, all played out to that 'eeeeaassee my minnnddddd' song. Its a very emotional moment.
I thought it was a quite a good, enjoyable movie, even though its gone a bit more serious, it doesn't take itself too seriously at times, and the viewer shouldn't either. Its a weird balance.
I'd give the movie an 8/10, and thats without comparing it to the series but treating it as a...
Gantz is/was supposed to be the ace up ADV's sleeve in 2005 (I think it still is). If they do a sensible disc count release and market it well, surely it could sell well in the UK?
I reckon ADV should also go for the likes of Gankutsuou, MOnster or Eureka Seven, even Bleach if they can get...
Like what others have been saying, thats true. It gets more consistent. I've been watching more of it (ep 40 now), and it definitely maintains its consistency after ep 29, and becomes really, really good.
I think you've missed my point. I'm not neccessarily saying that it only gets interesting when its action-packed. I can easily see a lot of complex, subtle things going on in the series, and I applaud it for that. But its not always done well.
The way its handled at times is so heavy...
I decided to delete my post after the Vol.2 review and start a new FMA reccomendation thread. I'm quite a way into the series, but this is what I thought. It is a reccomendation though, even if just to see what all the fuss was about.
I'm currently watching my friend's old fansubs on dvd-r...
www.ukanime.com have just given the 1st volume a 9.1 score. Initially when it was released, I remeber reading some lukewarm reviews after the furore over Mezzo Forte, but there seem to be good reviews around nowadays.
Animeondvd also gave the 1st volume an A-, but B- for vols 2 and 3. They...
Maybe kids 'll enjoy it more (I'm 19) but I've already well documented my lukewarm attitude towards Spirited Away. Now Mononoke, thats a different matter, but probably not appropriate for 14's and under.
I've said this somewhere else but I agree. The Mezzo trailer is awesome! I'll eventually get it, despite what some critics have said. the Original OVA was quite good, so this should be too (theoretically).
Thanks for clearing that up. I'd sort of guessed that the series was 'stand-alone' and the films were slightly different, with more of the complex philosophical musings.
Sounds cool if its true, the SAC dub was really well-done. But what about the timeline of the films, is Innoncence set after Stand Alone Complex? And like wise is the original film set before?
Hmmm...interested in Mezzo DSA, as I've just watched Mezzo Forte (the trailer for DSA is brilliant 8) on the Puni disc), and also in Divergence Eve. Apparently if you look past the oversized attributes, its a very disturbing, unsettling, well-crafted series.
Well, you said it. If you continue watching, the plot twists, revelations and political intrigues keep coming, along with some action and tense moments too.
So to confirm: the other manga follows the series more, and shooting star is a bit different and tells different stories?
I'd like to get shooting star from the sounds of it, for newer Bebop stuff.
I was fortunate to watch the entire series on TV, when it aired on the Sci-Fi Channel last year. It was even repeated several times over for months, along with the likes of Excel Saga. Oh how I miss anime on Sci-Fi
Yeah, I mean that sequence. Yup Nabeshin's cool, and isn't he based on some kind of Lupin the 3rd character ? I think its cool that the Director actually characterizes himself in Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemy (he actually voices him in the sub?) It's also good self-referential humour, the...
I felt the same way a lot of the time. Dilandau's voice is just horrible. Although its done that way on purpose, and you understand why later in the series. And the version of Hitmomi I'm referring to is the dubbed version, you can probably guess.
But the bad is offset by the good, as the...
