Definitely agree. There were too many episodes that were like filler, and shouldn't have been there. I genunienly think it could have been a very concise 26 episode series, with consistent quality. It seemed too strecthed out.

I've seen about half of it, and haven't really liked it. At the moment it's a bit predictable, and full of Deus Ex Machina's. There have been good moments though. One thing I can't get past is the main charcaters. It's hard to feel empathy for assasins that willingly take on 'jobs' to...

I can reccomend Stand Alone Complex and Heat Guy J. Gasaraki also if you want a headscratcher.

Strange about Basilisk. I saw the characters and thought the design was unique, different and quite expressive, not ugly.

Hehe, I've had this convo with you before Paul on your blog. Rest assured, once you get past the opening episodes, GXS becomes really good and more serious, with character development. My first impressions were the same, but it's one of those series worth sticking with.

I thought it was good and hilarious at times, but not particularly brilliant. I'd rate it a 3/5, it ends really really well though. It's far far better than the nonsense that was the first series, which I thought was awful.

I think Sony already own the Metropolis licence and have previously released it on dvd.

Same here. Visually very good, and an imaginative story, but it was just too long and didn't really hold my interest. I was actually looking forward to it finishing.

Vandread, no one seems to talk about it, it's a great series, of of the better GONZO ones. It shares some sinilarities with Nadesico, but is still its own animal.

I've got the first volume of this. the first 2 episodes are rubbishy, the 3rd and 4th are pretty good. I currently have too many series to catch up on so I won't be buying later volumes anytime soon.

The series changes quite a bit and is pretty much goes in a different direction to the opening episodes. It's one of those that's worth sticking with, but we all have differing tastes and levels of tolerance. Horses for courses, I guess.

It's currently my No.1 anime series for a number of reasons. One of them was the emotive feelings you get for the characters, primarily Vash of course. 7zark7 - I read somewhere (a long time ago and I can't find the source) that apparently it was planned to be at least a 39 episode series...
