    Japanese Phrase thread

A bad thing. I've noticed that there's a faction in the anime community that have some sort of beef with taking an interest in Japan in general; especially the language. Anyway nevermind. I was wondering if anyone could clear up the various ways of saying 'goodbye' for me. Everyone knows the...

    Japanese Phrase thread

This is a nice idea and I too am keen to learn a few bits of Japanese. I'll get to practice in a couple of weeks when I'm over there (have I mentioned that I'm going to Japan? :P ) But I think that there are one or two people on here who'll go nuts when they see this thread!!

    What did you BUY today?

I’ve just bought two tickets for the Studio Ghibli museum for 10am on the 11th November. It’s weird that a) you need an advance ticket and b) it has to be for a specific time and date.

What you guys doing right now.

True, packing always stresses me out too. And although there's usually some trepidation about travelling I find it's the excitement that wins out.

What you guys doing right now.

    The fear of packing?

    Do we all horde anime?

I’d been thinking about how it is quite widely considered that anime is expensive. That opinion has cropped up often, particularly in the recent ‘fansubs...evil’ thread. Now I don’t really want to start a debate on whether anime is expensive or not but I am interested in the way that...

    Elfen Lied

Who said I was being sarcastic?! Seriously though, it's my fault as I know full well that sarcasm and irony almost invariably fail to come across when written.

    Elfen Lied

I thought everyone loves EVA... don't they? Especially the final two episodes!! As for the ending of Elfen Lied, I was initially distraught by it's none conclusive ending. However, I have come to accept it and am now rather glad of it. More episodes I can live without but it would have...

    Elfen Lied

Just this once an exception can be made I guess. That is surely one of the all time great scenes in anime history. I remember the first time I watched that scene I almost cried out "Stop! Enough already!". I really was shaken by it. And after that she's lay there minus arms and legs and...

    Elfen Lied

Couldn't argue with that even though being somewhat self contradictory, the brutal violence was one of my favourite aspects of the show. My complaint in that regard would have to be the 'spilt paint' look of the blood. But perhaps unrealistic blood was an attempt to temper the extreme violence.

    Elfen Lied

Oh I’m sorry Nemphtis, you’re right; it’s not very good at all. I can’t believe it has been one of my favourite anime series. Maybe that’s a consequence of it being the first one I watched and the resultant brain damage? Lucy is still hot though!!

    Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied is surely the Marmite of anime. In the year or so I’ve been into anime I’ve not come across a series that seems to polarise opinions so much. Personally I loved it and it’ll always have a place in my heart as it was the first anime series I watched. And as it followed a couple...

    What did you BUY today?

I threw a banana in the bin today as it'd spent several days living in a drawer of my work desk. It smelt. I bought £20 of unleaded petrol. Should be about enough to reach the next petrol station!

Fan-subs; the root of all evil?

Excuse my ignorance but do the places where fan-subs are downloaded from feature various adds and pop ups? If so, they would be some source of income, if only a very small one.

    NieA_7

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting any replies to my post so cheers for the thoughts everyone. There were some nice positives there, seeing as I like a bit of ‘slice of life with some gentle humour’ anime. It always provides me with quite a ‘feel-good’. Particularly encouraging is the...

    NieA_7

Has anyone one seen any of this series? For those who’ve never heard of it, NieA_7 (or NieA Under 7) is a 13 episode 2002 production from (more or less) the same staff as Serial Experiments Lain, most notably Yoshitoshi ABe. It features a hard-up Tokyo student (Mayuko) who finds a freeloading...

Ian huntley tried to top himself.

This isn’t the first time he’s attempted to OD on anti-depressants. But what gets me about it is how they keep giving him anti-depressants. I mean, he just shouldn’t get them anyway because after what he did he deserves to be depressed.

    Question about R1 Basilisk Artbox

No, if anything they're easier to get out than the Basilisk digi-paks. No worries about the pics, only took a couple of minutes.
