Claire may or may not have spent a little more than usual on getting a classic out of print yuri manga in English shipped from the US. The omnibuses were the only realistic way, the pricing on the older (nicer) individual volumes was ridiculous when you took shipping all of them into account...
I meant in the sense that when Seven Seas announced the 'You've Got Mail' license last year it got a very similar reaction in comments (incientally Yiggybean mentioned in comments they won't be stocking that either). I don't know anything about pre-existing discussions elsewhere because I'm not...
Yeah, Yiggybean actually put out a statement yesterday saying they refuse to stock it. The vast majority of comments under the Seven Seas announcement appear to be negative, and the vast majority of ones on the Yiggybean thing are lauding them for their stance.
Seven Seas really need to think...
Viz Media have licensed 'Hana ni Arashi' under the English title 'Rainbows After Storms'. Cannot believe it took that long for this to get licensed, and I am slightly baffled it ended up being a Viz one.
Two highly regarded new baihe (Chinese yuri) licenses from Monogatari Novels. Both of these are novel announcements, not manhua. I believe these are the first baihe novels to be licensed in English as well. :)
First one is apparently a bit subtexty. Although I have not read it, I have heard it mentioned in passing as being yuri a couple of times. Anilist has it with a yuri tag of 60% so I am fairly confident putting it here. It looks interesting so I'll be keeping an eye out.
The second one, 'A...
Seven Seas have licensed 'Chasing Spica'.
I have absolutely no prior exposure to this one other than knowing its name. It seems like it has the potential to be the kinda toxic I enjoy though.
Even a lot of yuri series that do broach the subjects of queer identity and homophobia rarely use actual queer Japanese lingo when they're describing stuff. It's rare enough that even with the sheer volume of yuri I have read I can only think of a handful that are on par with ILTV for its...
Anyone else really happy that the I'm in Love with the Villainess' anime actually adapted the big long discussion about queer identity? I was really nervous they'd water it down a bit but it seems to have adapted the manga version of that conversation perfectly and even expanded on it a little...
From my understanding they're by different mangaka and the other one ended prematurely. The current one (Moke version) starts again and appears to be doing it properly. Couldn't tell you why the other one ended though, either it was something to do with the mangaka or maybe Adashima got more...
Almost every time I watch a publisher do a licensing event hoping for some yuri I just end up being like "guess I'll add these other titles to the BL thread then". Like, give us something. I'm getting seriously jealous at this point, almost every single licensing announcement has multiple new BL...
Yuri is My Job vol 4-7 - Okay this is finally clicking for me now. A pretty explicit reveal of Yano being recontextualises a lot of stuff from the previous volumes, and Hime being makes a hell of a lot of sense as well. This series has such well thought out characters, and the angst is...
