Release of the year incoming...
Third Window have finally announced details of their much-anticipated boxset Nobuhiko Obayashi's 80s Kadokawa Years.

I really hate Sony's strategy of boxing totally unrelated films together and then releasing them individually piecemeal, at random, years later. That looks like a terrific edition of The Last Picture Show though and good on them for finally including the theatrical cut. Am I willing to buy a set...
I find it utterly bizarre that in 2022 that you can't just change subtitle size, font, colour, position, whatever, add your own, as default on all players. How complicated can it be?
Aren't RightStuf releasing Macross 7, Macross Delta, and Macross Frontier ? With Crunchyroll and Harmony Gold handling Super Dimension Force Macross "licensing opportunities"? Dare I dream this gets us SDF Macross and DYRL?
I love the design of the Evangelion UE - which I don't have but it looks much nicer than the Wolf's Rain and Eureka Seven UEs which I've kept in the cardboard boxes just to keep the contents together. Those things are dust magnets!
Sherlock Hound is probably my least favourite of the early series that Miyazaki worked on, but I'll certainly still be picking it up. Anne of Green Gables, Marco, or Heidi would be better, bolder choices though.
Urusei Yatsura is another great announcement. I've never seen the series and I'm...
I've yet to get A Clockwork Orange (never been that keen on it) but I have all the other Kubrick 4Ks and can vouch for them. Warner treat them with care and they're all reference quality as a result. You can usually get them for decent prices as well, I see 2001 is £13.99 at Amazon at the...
Re: forwarders. I've never ordered from RightStuf but I've been using Stackry for a couple of years to ship my Criterion and Kino sale orders. Like most things been getting more expensive in recent times but, checking my invoices, I was £23 to ship 7 Blu-Rays a couple of months ago and £27 to...
I wouldn't mind AL releasing some anime-adjacent live action, e.g. Anno, Mamoru Oshii, Shunji Iwai. Now that Discotek has a live action sub-label that might be our best chance though.
I imagine that AL will give it a nice collector's edition too. I imagine that it's more likely for 2023 at this point but I'm looking forward to hearing more details.
Hopefully we get His and Her Circumstances at some point too - and one of the live-action labels decides to pick up Anno's...
Great news! Not a huge surprise since Discotek announced it some time ago for a US release but a very welcome announcement nevertheless. Keep the Anno coming!
