Obscure Japanese games that deserve an English release?

So would I, actually. If properly marketed, they could open up a whole new demographic of female gamers. Those of us brought up on shooty-shooty-bang-bang games will find them boring as hell, but they'd offer an alternative for those uninterested in the current crop of games. Trauma Centre is...

Obscure Japanese games that deserve an English release?

Not the original SNES one. SO: The Second Story came out on the PS1, and SO: Till the End of Time came out on PS2 about a year ago. There was also a GBC game, Blue Sphere, but I don't think that made it out of Japan either.

Obscure Japanese games that deserve an English release?

Bloody hell, where to begin.... this could take a while. Here are a few that come immediately to mind: Seiken Densetsu III - The sequel to Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu II) had more of everything; better graphics, better sound, and a great branching story that was different depending on the...

    Favourite Non-Final Fantasy RPG?

I'm shocked and apalled that so few of the 16-bit era classics have been mentioned. Damn kids need to get back to yer roots, that's where the true games are at. None of these fancy whistles and bells like voice actin and FMV. :P Oldman routine aside, I'm really surprised Chrono Trigger hasn't...

    Retro VS Next Gen

Retro all the way. I've yet to see any title to completely sell me on a next-gen machine. Slightly nicer looking rehashes are not the way to go, we need some real innovation. I hope Nintendo has something miraculous up it's sleeve.

    Sonic VS Mario

2D: Sonic. Mario put up a good fight, but the blinding speed of the blue furball was just too much for him. 3D: Mario. No competition at all. Sonic was too busy trying to go faster than anyone else too look where he was going, and slammed straight into a brick wall. Gotta go 2D though...

    MACROSS PLUS - Advice

If you're a mecha fan, pick it up; it's still one of the best examples of the genre available, with planes that transform into giant robots (if you've seen Robotech, you should know wat to expect, as the first half of that was made from the original Macross series). Even if you're not a big...

British dub for Millenium Actress & more news from Manga

Re: British dub for Millenium Actress & more news from M This can only be a Good Thing. While it probably won't iqnite a new wave of anime fans, it will be worthy of at least some mainstream media coverage. It also shows Manga UK are still brave enough to take risks; I've been pretty...

Blue Peter shows clip of anime movie

It's not that British humour isn't as funny, it just doesn't get the same screentime and attention as the hipper, shinier American series, often relegated to late timeslots that few people ever pay attention to. The likes of Spaced and Black Books were aired after Friends and Will and Grace, so...

September issue of NEO out this week

The Pillows? Bloody hell, now this I need to read, they're one of my favourite groups. I know it's a(n incredibly) long shot, but is there any mention of any UK appearances or releases? Would love to see a domestic Fool on the Planet or Little Busters.

    The Great Unwashed Anime: August

As I say in the piece, it's very different. If you go in expecting more of the same, you may be disappointed. The series is much lighter in tone and visuals, with character designs that are closer to Tezuka's originals (think Metropolis, another Tezuka work). Personally, I rate the film a bit...

    Zeta Gundam

Not happening. It's going to be part of J:COMM On Demand from 1st September, so I don't think it's going to be discounted just yet. More info here. To be honest, I'd expect him to discount V first, as by all accounts Tomino now hates it. I also wonder if these Zeta movies are going to become...

The game all retro fans have been waiting for

Indeed, the original is fantastic. I just hope they do a better job with this than they did with Guardian Heroes Advance. I didn't think it captured the spirit of the original at all, and the whole thing just left me rather underwhelmed.

Manga UK produce Millenium Actress dub

It's Street Fighter Alpha Generations, and is the sequel to the SF Alpha movie. It's been said to exist for a while, but not much has been heard of it outside of a few sketches. It was slated for release at the end of June, but it seems to have been pushed back to October 25th (in the US). As...

    Video Game Wish lists

I was at the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival the other day, and got to see and play a load of cool stuff. I did a little write-up on my blog for anyone who's interested, but for everyone else, here's the short version:Nintendogs alone is reason enough to buy a DS Zelda: Twilight...

    Gundam - Where to start?!

I said not quite, and I meant the thing as a whole. Everything's pretty bouncy - until you get to the end. I stand by my recommendation of 0080 in an effort to get more people to watch it. ;) Oh, and bigger backpacks!! :D

    Zeta Gundam

Thread necromancy in the name of Gundam. Always a valid reason. :D Oooh, shiney. Hadn't seen that one before, thanks. Looks gorgeous, all that remastering makes the old scenes look like they were made yesterday, although I am curious as to what they've changed/added. Now we just gotta hope for...

    Beez plans for autumn?

I'm guessing that "Planets" is just a spelling error of "Planetes," which is the Greek word for "wanderers". It's odd that Pinnacle has the error, while Play has the correct title. Other than that, it's a pretty strong lineup. Looking forward to these.

Roger is Bridget's teddy bear, and is seen in some of his attacks. Can be really quite nasty.

    Gundam - Where to start?!

Dude, it's Gundam. Everyone's a tortured soul and it's always doom and gloom. ;) I'd suggest giving 08th MS Team and 0080 a try. They aren't quite as doomy and gloomy as Wing, don't have exessive politics and not quite everyone's a tortured soul. :) ZZ is the most light-hearted-but-serious...
