The ZOEs are amazing games, but from what I saw of Dolores (about the first 8 eps), I can't say I was too impressed. It was nice to have a grizzled, middle-aged single father of two piloting the mech, but other than that, nothing really jumped out at me. May pick this up if I see it going for...
It really depends on the series. While the purists will tell you that the manga is superior, it really does vary from title to title - I prefer the manga versions of Naruto and Nausicaa, the anime versions of Beck and Plantetes, while both anime and manga versions of Fullmetal Alchemist and...
Call me Mr Cynical. but I'm not going to get too exited about these just yet. We've already had two endings to Evangelion, and now an(other) all-new retelling? It seems Anno-san has went a bit Lucas on us...
The way Sony has done all their consoles up to now, the PS4 will be out about five years time. They make a new console every five years, and each one designed to last ten years (the PS1 has been almost completely phased out now, and the PS2 will begin its decline in another year or two). It's a...
Still playing Dawn of War + expansions. I've got two mates hooked on it now too, so multiplayer mayhem is very much ahoy. Just gotta find a favourite race now...
Also started playing Dotstream on the train, one of the Bit Generations. It's a brilliant little racer, very unique and retro...
With the new anime season now well and truly underway, it's time to ask what fansubbed series you're keeping track of, what to see and what to avoid. I'll start;
Tegen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Mecha/Comedy
My highlight of the season so far, Gurren Lagann is madcap mecha action brought to you by...
That... that's obscene. That makes GigaWing look like it could be done by kids. Blindfolded. With both arms tied behind their back.
I think this Ikaruga vid outdoes it though.
Will definitely be picking Planetes up, but I hope Beez price these boxes appropriately. If they follow suit with their previous two-parter sets and ask for £40 each, I can see people importing instead. Which would be a terrible shame, as most of these deserve to do well :|
Upbeat? Upbeat? I felt my brain melt when I first saw this. Few have encountered such a fearsome assault of sugary cuteness, let alone survived through it ...and now I can't get the damn song out of my head...
I've seen the first couple of eps, and I'm not overly impressed at the moment. It...
Seen quite a few in my time, but here's a couple of standouts:
Rurouni Kenshin - Kenshin Vs Saito
Macross Plus - Isamu Vs Guld
Cowboy Bebop - Spike Vs Andy
Ghost in the Shell - Mokoto Vs the Big Spider Tank
Street Fighter: The Animated Movie - Chun-Li Vs Vega
FLCL - Haruko + Canti Vs the...
Wholeheartedly seconded. The first 15 or so eps of Destiny are great, but after that it aall just goes to hell.
I'll also throw in Noir, RahXephon, Jinki Extend, Hare Nochi Guu, Futakoi Alternative, just off the top of my head.
Another toughie, but I'm going to have to go with the Spikester. Gutts is great and all, but Spike's just such a likable roguish charm that you just can't beat, no matter how big the sword.
Randomly dug out Dawn of War and started playing it while at my folks. Before I knew it I was halfway through the campaign. It's a great game, and I'm rather annoyed I didn't realise this sooner.
Also been playing CNC3 a bit. Not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's enjoyable...
Ooh, thanks for the links, Primus. Really liked that bit with Starscream in the second spot. Still cautiously optimistic for this, but as the release grows nearer, the anticipation meter is slowly being overridden by the Transformers fan within.
The best is easily Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. I'd say the best live-action one though is Mortal Kombat. The first Resident Evil gets a special mention for not being utterly crap, and having the bit with the lasers :)
There are too many contenders for Worst that it doesn't bear...
