Hello Kaede
Happy to help! SOAS is the School for Oriental and Asian Sciences, it's actually just round the corner from Birkbeck so you have a choice. I finished my summer intensive course recently and I will most likely be taking up another course this autumn too. if you would like some help...
Only one series for me this autumn:
Psychic Detective Yakumo - Been waiting for that for a long time, should be interesting, if the manga is anything to go by...
Hi Kaede
I haven't heard of that school but I can suggest a couple. I was attending the one at Birkbeck university, they do a saturday class and an evening one for beginners. The course I will admit was pretty intense and unfortunately due to a stressful job I flunked by 3 marks. (which I was...
Seems to me it all started out fairly innocently until dad wanted to make money out of it. Kind of sad it happened that way, do feel bad for Mr Fuji though.
But she must have made a fair bit of money though. According to this Japanator article, the girl has brought Y40,000,000 into the...
Mourning the fact that I have lost my oyster card because:
a) it had a weeks worth of receipts in there - that i could have claimed back as expenses. (Only self employed people think like this. Before I became self employed i never cared about receipts)
b) it came in a really cool manga...

@Voddas - That comment of yours about Fruits Basket not being ecchi, made me laugh, for obvious reasons....
@Fox - FB isn't ecchi but I promise you its a top quality series. By far one of the best shoujo series out there.
@Voddas - Er... you do realise that the two main characters in NANA are called Nana? :)
@Tachi - I understand your conundrum, empty anime sections in HMV is what drove me online. Maybe you can check under the Manga label. (no pun intended.)
The HMV on Oxford Street once stocked their anime...
@Foxstripe- I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow then. Best of luck.
What I find helps with learning japanese is watching the subtitled version of anime first, and then watching it again with the subtitles off. Noein is great.
@Voddas - And there was me thinking, who the...
I have some news of my own. I have been offered a new job! It will mean commuting into London, but long train rides are perfect for reading manga.
@Foxstripe - Good luck with your interview on Tuesday. Is that a UK based job? And can you speak much Japanese?
@Black Wolf - Rejection is part...
@Dave - Stumbled upon this conversation pretty late, but I have to say your comment about the Death Note running out of pages had me in stitches.
Although, I like the idea of a 'good' Death Note too. That would make an interesting TV show, especially if L was the lead.
