What have I done... It’s been a stressful day for me with all 3 flights I’ve had to catch today be delayed and having had no food and water for 16 hours doesn’t help. I’m an a$$hole. I am. Always have been. And it’s thanks to my pathetic self having taken the internal stress and take it all...

Just hire either mp3dom, Justin Sevakis, David MacKenzie or all 3 and you’ll never get complaints on the topic again.

Video quality feedback - let's hear your thoughts!

Why ar enough even asking? This is a f**king stupid question. Just use the Japanese BD (if there is one) or your main source as a reference and match it in terms of brightness levels. If you do the gamma wrong, you raise the chances for artifacts. Here’s my suggestion- stop using your sh*t...

Hey, @MVM , Will Eromanga Sensei have any cuts demanded of by the BBFC? Thanks!

Aniplex buys Madman, FUNimation buys Manga... what's next? Sentai buys MVM?

Yup. There's more grain and detail visible. So the older, original release is better in terms of picture quality.

He did, but he took the materials he was given and encoded it to disc. His encode was flawless, but it was of a terrible remaster done in France, wiping away the grain/DNR, and applying some edge enhancement. Now, in that case, it doesn't matter if even mp3dom did the compression- the master is bad.

@anime_andrew Please tell me the people who ruined Perfect Blue in its "remaster" aren't working on Cyber City Odeo.... if so, then I'm out. I'd love to get it, but after seeing the disappointing PB release, I'm more cautious than ever.

I'm not a fan of it, and most of Okada Mari's work, but it's a cheap Aniplex alternative.

I'm down for the Aniplex licenses (Anohana, Bunny Girl Senpai, Yuuna), and possibly Revue depending on what Sentai does.

If Char’s Counter Attack is the 4K scan and original audio mix, I’m down. If not, then I’ll go for the newly announced Japanese re-release (which I’ll probably do anyways). Also, Turn. A. Gundam. If I’m gonna import any UK Gundam release, it would be that.

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

Wow. That bitrate! Looks like it's on a BD-50, right? The VIZ BD was on a BD-25 and had this lowly bitrate: That said, the AL disc is better, but not a huge improvement. Looks like it's the source both VIZ and AL were given that was really poor- most likely a streaming master, if I had to guess.

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

Yeah, after looking, it appears AL's colours are closer to the Netflix stream: However, after looking at those screenshots, the AL one has more banding. Again, this may be JPEG conversion or site introduced compression on top of the perfectly fine screenshot. So, really, I can't tell which one...

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

It just so happens that of the over 100 screenshots of the VIZ release I took, 2 match up decently well to the UK screenshots. Now, keep in mind, mine are PNG and uploaded to Imgur, while the myReviewer ones are JPEG and uploaded to their own site. It is very possible that because they were...

Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

I’m not at home right now, so I can’t really tell for sure (I’m on my phone and the small screen size can hide bad artifacts easily).

Viz's US BD is so bad I took 122! screencaps showing off the compression artifacts, but even that isn't everything.

Overseas Cheaper Alternatives to AoA BD Releases

I don't own most of these, so I'm just going off of what I've heard/seen. I may get Kaze's Nisekoi because it's cheap, so I might have a proper analysis of the transfer. I agree on putting Heaven's Feel so highly. Not perfect, but very good considering the price. And wow... SAO S1 isn't as...

Overseas Cheaper Alternatives to AoA BD Releases

Sword Art Online (Manga UK and Madman AU) Overall a very solid release, high bitrates and minimal compression artifacts from what I've heard (don't hold me to it- this is just what I was told) Occultic;Nine Lots of compression artifacts due to poor optimizations (3 episodes per disc and on...

I get it, but what few 4K anime releases are available in Japan are a very mixed bag, with the best being minor at best upgrades in detail, but nice HDR, and the rest having DNR to various degrees (acceptable, like the retro Gundam UHDs to Predator UHE levels like the TMS UHDs).
