Apparently my copy of Planetes shipped today, so that's something to look forward to. Between it and the likes of Bartender, Boogiepop, etc. being picked up, I can only hope that it's just a waiting game until we see other cult 00's favourites like Honey & Clover, Nodame Cantabile & Nana see the...
Just checked out the video. I've been laughing for about half an hour over the Blood C Ult. announcement. I know that show has its fans, but to me it's like seeing a bad garage punk band getting the Christmas number 1. spot. I'm horrified, yet the inner anarchic part of me is ecstatic.
I've...
I mean I love Haibane Renmei but that show is a classic example of a digipaint title, being produced right at the worst possible point of the transfer from cell to digital. I'm not sure there is a way to make that show look impressive on a blu ray, which was definitely the case when it was...
All I will say that if Andrew doesn't use the stacks he gets from this release to license War in the Pocket, I'll be travelling up to Glasgow... mainly because it's the easiest route when driving to Skye. Still, I'll make sure to glare at some random buildings
I honestly think Andrew could have saved a bit of money by scrapping that Sachiel paperweight and instead heading the nearest New-Age store, buying a bunch of cheap blue crystals, throwing one in each box and saying they were miniature Ramiel figurines. No-one would ever know...
Reading through some of GKIDS' comments and it appears that both disks will include the director's cuts but not the original tv show episodes, which for the ADV version is a pretty significant issue, as their DC dub for that had to replace several of the original voice actors, resulting in an...
Looks over at my old adv disks
Oh hey, you're right. I barely remember what was added to 21, although now that I think about it there were some additional scenes with Asuka builds up to her assault by the Angel (her breakdown in the bathroom & being told by Shinji that Kaiji was gone).
There shouldn't be for the most part. The only difference is that episodes 23 & 24 have both original tv versions and director's cuts that adds a few minutes of additional content (Rei's final battle with the 16th Angel is expanded, Kaworu's conversions with Seele, Rei etc). The original adv...
I was hoping for £150, but I still caved & bought it. Having both dubs was the deciding factor: I mean, not only in appreciation of AL/GKIDS being able to access them, but the fact that they're on separate disks means that there's no guarantee that both will be made available in the future, and...
Personally I think Manga UK's dvd menu & their original trailer for End Of are probably the greatest Eva-related things to ever come out the west. I imagine the chance to be able to re-use then as extras is pretty low, but I do love to occasionally dust off my old dvds & just soak in their...
It's kind of sad that AL are offering absolutely no clarification as to the release structure, dub or pricing, etc, despite the huge amount of genuine inquiries on facebook, etc. Perhaps the co-release with GKIDS or licensing stipulations with Khara means they have to keep hush on these things...
Good on MVM for picking up Aria. I've already spent enough money on that show through Rightstuf's Kickstarter to justify picking it up again, but it's great news for all the people that missed out first time around/don't have multi-region players.
Now we just need Chihayafuru to make its way...
I know this has already shown up on the Eva thread, but Amazon have revealed their new dub cast for the Rebuild films, and they're mostly using the original ADV cast whenever possible. This was actually something of a surprise to me, as I suspected Netflix creating a new dub meant the original...
Can anyone clarify whether AL's release of Penguindrum will receive a new, more literal subtitle track, or if it's going to use the same one as on the Sentai disks? I think I recall someone mentioning there would be a new script, but it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the item description.
I figured it was only a matter of time before this happened but it's still pretty disheartening. It's not like Manga is a company worth much stock these days, and having more corporate oversight might actually improve the quality & release schedule of their titles (wishful thinking) but I'm...
Having seen this series 5-6 times now, I didn’t rewatch it for this simulwatch, but it has been a lot of fun reading the thread and seeing the reaction from first-time viewers.
Land of the Lustrous ended up being my favourite show of the decade, soundly surpassing the likes of From the New...
It's absolutely the disk, not the player. There was even a thread somewhere on this site about the problems people were having with disk 2 loading on various players. Sometimes they wouldn't load, while other times they would take a long time and make a lot of noise as the players tried to...
