The Knapsack Kid movie was a frustrating experience to watch the first time. Every previous story arc has focused on whichever girl is mentioned in the title, so I went into this one expecting it to be about the titular mysterious little girl. That's not the case though. Instead she's more of a...
Am I missing something? All I'm seeing from those waveform comparisons are boosted levels, not compressed dynamics. Not that I would be likely to mind anyway; I always have my soundbar's dynamic compression mode switched on to avoid annoying my neighbours with sudden loud noises.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
I tend to feel a sense of dread when a game is described as being "inspired by classic JRPGs" because few modern developers seem to understand what made the best JRPGs of the 90s into classics. Games that self-describe that way often end up being tedious slogs bloated...
At this point I'm wondering if there's anyone left for AL to negotiate with for additional Gundam titles now that Right Stuf is dead. It made sense for Right Stuf to sub-licence to a UK distributor since they don't have a presence here, but Crunchyroll would be actively helping their local...
And here's some stuff I ran into while skimming through some of the dozen other trailer reels from this weekend.
High Times is a dating sim/cooking game set in a doughnut cafe, but I can't find a separate upload of the trailer.
And this...this...uh...words fail me.
The Xbox showcase put up a solid fight in this week's trailer wars. Fortunately most of the interesting stuff is coming to PS5 too.
Here's Game Freak (yes, the Pokemon developer) showing that their games don't have to look 25 years old if they have more than 12 months development time and...
The Expanse is getting an action RPG that's looking very Mass Effect. I wonder which will take longer to be released: this or Mass Effect 5...
That trailer was pretty much the highlight of the Future Games Showcase. There was also a release date reveal for surprisingly impressive-looking...
It was just about worth sitting through two hours of copy-pasted dark fantasy soulslikes to get trolled and then untrolled by Capcom for the new Resident Evil.
Aside from that, a few things looked semi-interesting, but nothing else had me massively excited. Felt That Boxing looks entertaining...
Heads up for anyone planning to watch the Summer Game Fest stream this evening: adblockers are currently preventing the Youtube website from loading. It doesn't appear to affect Youtube videos embedded on other sites, so here's a link. Also I'm seeing some places saying it starts at 10pm GMT...
Depending on how well it's emulated, this may become the best way to play Deus Ex. The PS2 version was a significant visual upgrade over PC with improved character models. The only thing holding it back was the awful loading times. Hopefully running it on an SSD will fix that.
You saved me from having to post all of that. 😅
I'm glad that Pragmata hasn't been cancelled. It looks promising, but more conventional than I expected after the wild reveal trailer (in 2020?!) and the massive delays.
Silent Hill f only being a few months away is a big surprise, considering...
This lovely large-format paperback includes both the original manga and the sequel. It's also surprisingly light, which should make it easier to read than the Poe Clan hardcover. That thing was like holding a slab of granite.
I love Q and Seven; definitely two of the best shows in the whole Ultra franchise. Seven in particular was made when Tsuburaya Productions were at the top of their game. Some of those episodes are as polished as bite-size movies.
Ah, I want to watch them again just from looking at the boxes! 😅
My guess is that it has something to do with the terms of their licence for the dub. Maybe they would have had to pay more to include it in more than one SKU. I'm reminded of the eyebrow-raising situation with the ADV dub of Eva being on a separate set of discs and only in certain (massively...
